TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

So I just had an after gym adrenaline spike thought. Do you guys think this implosion of bullshit is enough to be featured in Chicago? "Local Chicago based website, shutdown amongst sexual abuse and rape accusations" on the heels of the #Metoo movement. Or just the regular website stuff that has been happening since this shit began. I wondered that cause I'm sure Doug or CA was featured on their local news atleast once.
The most mainstream news coverage this will get:

"FOR SALE: Warehouse/office. Hardly used."

I feel this is the most appropriate response to the end of the world for Doug and co.

It's possible that he'd have some sort of non compete clause in his contract that would bar him from doing videos for some predetermined amount of time. He'd also probably have to ditch the hat, the tie, and the glasses. Look for the Reminiscing Reviewer in 2019.

It was mentioned on the Silent Rob stream:

It would be like a wrestler leaving the company but changing their name. So all Doug would have to do is change his name to Critic Something.

So, Greg Sestero loyalty?

Good one. It is possible they have that kind of weird friendship.

If by "loyalty" you mean "Greg desperately wanted to become a Hollywood actor, and was willing to put up with Tommy's weird craziness because he let Greg live at his LA apartment rent-free, later acting in Tommy's movie because he couldn't get any other acting roles and Tommy was paying him, even though he knew it would be shit."
Maybe that does describe the situation.

I mean, there was some kind of real friendship there. The fact that they're still friends say's something. Greg could get acting jobs, that wasn't the issue, he just knew The Room was going to be a shitshow and wanted nothing to do with it until Tommy offered him a shitload of money AND a brand new car.

Here's a funny thought: Imagine most of these people had to go job hunting. Who would they use as their reference?

The bigger issue isn't so much their references, it's them having to explain the gaps in their job history. Employers are always placed on high alert when someone has major gaps in their work history. Before they even run a background check, it's an easy red flag that said person has a drug issue, legal problems, or mental issues. When they get asked what exactly they were doing for the past ten plus years, they are going to have to explain to them what they were doing. And they can describe it the best way imaginable, but once the interviewer does a simple google search on the name "Channel Awesome", all hell is going to break lose.

I would love to witness that interview and the interviewer's face when he looks up what this website is to do research on said potential employee and see all the horrible things attached to it.

That's what I mean. If they even tried to use CA as an explanation for the employment gap, they'd have to realise that Michaud and the Walkers are their only references....and I don't think they'll be giving any glowing evaluations, given what they said about them in that document.

It's almost like publically trashing your bosses for internet asspats has real world consequences...

Almost 10 years ago, when Doug went to his (then) job, ripped his shirt off, and burned his bridges with his employer running around the building like an idiot, I wonder where he thought he'd be in the future?

Instead of being the one who quit, in the end, he was the one who everyone quit from.

True pottery.
