SAG actors can do non-Union jobs so long as the provider pays a SAG fee. The reverse is also true. If one of the movie companies decided to satisfy Doug's wet dreams and have him star in a movie with Catherine Zeta Jones, he could appear in it without being a S.A.G. member, but he would have to pay a S.A.G fee

I'm having difficulty pulling up the Salon article right now, but it's either Pregler or Ellis who said that CA hired some pro-GG content makers. What producers are they talking about? Also, Ellis's quote about CA being complicit in GG is rich. Given that most of the output of CA is people shouting impotently over old media, Michaud and the Walkers didn't want to tear the community apart. If they wanted to do that, they'd just release some poorly redacted chat logs.

I think I've said this before in this thread but the only thing Doug and Rob can do to salvage their little empire is: completely throw Michaud under the bus, divorce themselves from Channel Awesome, create a new character that also does cringey video reviews.

The only things that could blow up in their face is if Michaud has his own damning evidence he can throw out there that would prove Doug and Rob's culpability in the BS and the whole Jewario affair. He could also try to sue them.

I agree, I think Doug and Rob could (key word being could; their PR skills are lacking to say the least) spin themselves into the hapless victims of Michaud's evil reign, and by escaping it, give people a narrative to root for in terms of them succeeding.

That said, I think part of the reason this has hit their fan base so hard is because the fans, especially the less casual ones had tired of his content already - dwindling viewership was probably always going to be a big problem even without any of this drama.

I still don't know what it was about. When I first heard about it, my thoughts were "a controversy with '-gate' added to the end of it, that's all I need to know" so I didn't give a shit about it, and when I finally tried to follow it to see what the fuss was about it had devolved to the point where people on both sides were hurling death threats at one another, after which I decided "yeah I'm staying out of this one".

5 years later, and the only thing I know about GamerGate is that spergs feel the need to bring it up and use it as a boogeyman instead of just letting it go.

Unfortunately for the Walkers, Rob knew. He was one of the three people mentioned in the chat log that would see Justin (the others being Michaud and Holly) leave CA. Doug is more ambiguous, as I mentioned a bit earlier in the thread he was privy to the internal chat logs but it sounded like he didn't know what was going on than "complaints" against Justin. That won't save him, if Rob goes down then Doug goes with him.

The Gamers attacked their fragile egos and self importance. They dared defy the media. No amount of their usual goto slanders had any effect on them. They couldn't comprehend it. It really just proved that the press really are a pack of religious fanatics and a self serving priesthood. And a completely shallow and ineffective one.

The thing that really got me through it all was the outrage of the Press, all the way up to the mainstream media that the Gamers dared to mock and defy their betters. That they dared question the elite journalists. Even though the Journalists being mocked were near broke tumblrina's who lived life by couch surfing and crowdfunded sandwiches, whereas the press never seemed to understand that time had moved on. Those 90's dude bro gamers that they mocked grew up, and joined the Atari generation before them as successful high income professionals. Bankers, Brokers, doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and CEO's. Yet in the media's eyes they were the elites and the gamers the unrefined common pleebs.
