TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

It's weird that Tamara and furry dude even care about making statements. I'm sure people are curious about what they think, but nobody has been particularly critical of either of them. In fact, a lot of people have even commented they are exempt from a lot of the issues because they were hired well after a lot of the drama, and have had almost no interaction with other contributors, since they were added after the crossover movies. In general, they're viewed more as employees than anything else. Even their defense of Doug has basically amounted to "well, we never saw any of this" because they have such limited interaction with anyone else. I'm not sure why they think it's a good idea to hitch themselves to Doug like this. You'd think given the public perception, he's the last person they'd want to be strongly associated with.

watched the new Nostalgia Critic. It was fine as far as new NC goes but I was hoping for more discussion on the whole satirical point. It comes up at the start and the end but he never really highlights it or says what it's satirizing. One big points is that the film and the propaganda segments are identical and a tip off to the movie's real nature, but does that mean RoboCop is a tv show inside robocop?

It doesn't help that the movie is just boring and looks cheap as fuck. If it is a takedown of fascism, it's a far worse takedown than the actual book is while still using all of it's parts which is honestly kind of impressive.

Because Doug doesn't know because he's a simpleton and he only goes off of analytical shit he can find off of the film's wiki page or from a Roger Ebert review.

I'm sure they'd rather not get in front of the camera either. But they're literally the only people left on Michaud's payroll who he can force in front of the camera to make the statement of "we don't suck, listen to us, the people given preferential treatment!"

Featuring a union actor that they can't touch.

Even so, does he really expect people to listen to them? I mean, I know Mike is a sperg, but Tamara and furry boy are kinda the last people anyone would really listen to.

For what it's worth, last I check it seemed like they were still being swarmed by spergs on Twitter demanding they say something, not that they seemed particularly interested in jumping into the fray just to do it.

Not to mention that nobody thinks that Doug or even Mike mistreated Tamara and Malcolm, so their point of view is pretty worthless on this subject.

I wonder why Doug likes to make himself seem smarter than he is by doing negative reviews on films other people like and purposefully makes the film much worse than it is.

Because he wants to stir shit among his audience of pretentious middle schoolers and those so out of touch with reality that they think Doug's retarded hot takes are relevant (positively or not). It's astounding how some still think he's good at analysis. He could watch the deepest film of all time and say shit like "Well, it is deep! Very good very nice :^D" without elaborating on anything.

Deep Plots!

I was going to do a recap on the things Doug gets wrong about the movie, but why bother? As much as he wants to be taken as an intellectual, his style does not allow for any deep discussion to be had. He's recapping the movie and providing commentary, doing so at a fast pace. There is simply no time for him to go into any in-depth discussion about the film, no real chance to talk about it. Not when he can be cracking jokes. It's shallow.

I still think it's amusing to take the piss out of him and point out everything he got wrong.

Assuming this isn't for something else, Malcolm and Tamara also seem to be working on their response video after all:

All of them have been getting more pissy, defensive and passive-aggressive on Twitter.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Michaud whipped out his erection off camera?

Yeah, one of his most flawed reviews in my opinion is his Jungle Book review. He just clearly doesn't understand what the film was trying to do and instead just said it was bad simply because it wasn't a shot by shot remake of the animated versions. And then he turns around and says that he hates Beauty and Beast because it's pointless and doesn't change enough.

If you want to see exactly why Doug is completely wrong when it comes to the Jungle Book remake, just watch this. (apologies in advance for this guys voice, but he really makes some good ass points.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kV7UyYbUqc

Don't really like the guy's voice and his account name is autistic as hell (MisAnthro Pony? Really?) but it's still nice to see someone point out Doug's stupidity and inability to pay attention to a fucking kids movie.

I never saw Doug's original review, but this is making me really glad I dropped off well before he made this.

ETA: Doug's assertion that the new one is a "dark, gritty adult version" is insanely dumb on so many levels, I can't comprehend it. Like holy shit, how can a PG rated movie from fucking Disney be the "adult version?" Plus it makes it sound like a Jungle Book porno.
