Artcow Michael John Kricfalusi / John Kricfalusi / John K. / John K. Stuff / Raymond Spum - scammer animator who pissed away his own career, salty blogger, CONFIRMED predator and child rapist

Supposedly John K., to make sure Nick would approve the story, changed Ren from an executive to a producer and said he was just poking fun at himself. Which he wouldn't have done, but the Games crew did.

But the Games crew not only did that but improved the story. Raymond Spum, John K.'s fictional Uncle Walt-esque founder of Spumco, was substituted with Wilbur Cobb, perhaps one of the show's greatest characters.

Stimpy's cartoon was also going to turn out to be good in the end, but Games instead decided to make it incredibly bad and therefore much funnier.
Everything about that episode just worked the way it turned out.

Damn! It wouldn't surprised me they thought that's what he was.

Reminded now of a character in a cartoon John worked on for the US satellite of TMS Entertainment in the 80's I'm sure most of us forgot about, the show was "Galaxy High" and this character appeared in only one episode, some cat-like thing that was tricking one of the earth kids in the show. Whether it's John's design or not, who knows, it just sticks out in my head.

EDIT: John was also on DiC's Heathcliff series as well, though he was involved in designing background cats in the show from what I've read, I don't recall any distinctively John K-ish felines in that though.

I feel bad for everyone who worked on Ren and stimpy who wasn't John, because it seems like alot of places like buzzfeed are claiming Ren and stimpy to be this awful cartoon that was obviously done by mentally unstable people and how everyone working on it should have been fired. People really shouldn't be paying for all the dickish shit John did

A lot of the people who do know better are trying to get the word out that the majority of people who worked on the show stayed behind and had no idea of what was going on. Thankfully there are a lot of people out there who seem to get it.

The animation industry is relatively anonymous a lot of the time, that has both its advantages and disadvantages but I doubt the former Spumco staff will end up getting fucked over by this too badly, worst case scenario they'll leave it out of their portfolio.

John himself is fucked though, thankfully. If you get put in a headline your career is basically over, just look at Chris Savino or Skylar Page. Even John Lasseter who got off relatively easy is being seriously considered for termination at Disney once his suspension is over.

Compared to Adult Party Cartoon where John pretty much had full control, it becomas apparent that the people who worked with him must have done a reasonably good job at compensating for his mental instability. What a horrible piece of animation.

Skylar Page, last I heard, was actually working as an animator at Titmouse.

But the fact is John was already pretty fucked beforehand; no one really wanted to hire him to do a series. He's just completely fucked now.

You have no idea. When you listen to people who stayed behind talk about how the show went it became pretty obvious that John was more an impediment than a helping hand to the show.

According to Sick Little Monkeys in the original outline Ren's depiction as a network executive that couldn't draw was not one the Nickelodeon execs, specifically story editor Will McRobb (also known as the co-creator of The Adventures of Pete & Pete) and Vanessa Coffey, who had been involved with Ren & Stimpy for quite awhile, were amused by. So he had to assure them Ren was a poke at himself and managed to convince them.

I just had to look through my e-copy of that book again, even post-John Kricfalusi there was plenty of drama as Games produced R&S.

Wilbur Cobb was named after McRobb, and he seems to have never minded that, though I'm pretty sure the real person wasn't a senile old nut whose body parts were constantly falling off. Then again, I never met him.

A lot of the drama behind the scenes was relatively normal drama aside from the constant attacks on the Games crew by John, which is what really made them hate him.

I don't see the harm in interviewing her tbqh. Same with Katie Rice who was involved in Adult Party Cartoon if they want to interview her.

The problem is that Adult Party Cartoon exists and Nickelodeon doesn't want kids to google Ren & Stimpy and find shit like this:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7vj5v

I'm sure some kind of revival (however brief) was still on the table. There were rumors that a new Ren & Stimpy short would play before the 3rd Spongebob movie but that rumor was squashed. But now? Forget it. Who wants to make a revival where it was revealed that the creator was a pedophile?

A bit late, but but it makes me sad we won’t get it, I always hoped we’d get a crossover movie with the Nick Toons and it’d be like this old commercial:

Lolcow Thread on John Lasseter when?

Skylar Page is the only I have sympathy for because it never came across as a serial harasser but someone who has a mental illness and has a break due to stress.
John K and Chris Savino left a trail of victims and it was clear that it was a pattern with them.
Makes sense, after all, Savino worked with Kricfalusi at one point. So it's entirely possible he "learned from the master" so to speak.

You don't become a creepy sex predator because your idol/colleague was. It's not normal and is something that has to come from inside of you. Most people would be like 'hey, that guy's a creep.' By the time you're 20-30, which is the age for Savino that the earliest of the allegations apparently span back to, you should know that it's not ok. John K could have helped normalize the behavior, but he did not make Savino be or do anything.
