Yup. In the description, the artist said she didn't like her character design and wanted to fix it. It's fine and all, but I don't see how her skin color needs to be "fixed". At least put more effort into the muddy shades of brown.

Once again these people are missing the context so much to point it's insulting. To inform those of you who aren't complete weebs like I am, the whole point about Kido's backstory is that she is a loner Japanese girl. Her backstory is that she was an outcast in her wealthy family being an illegitimate child. Her design is supposed to be conservative and quiet, but a strong leader of a ragtag group of psychics. Thus, she has the casual dress down. In other words, her face is hidden for a goddamn reason.

To add onto that, her ability as a Psychic allows her to NOT BE SEEN, by other people as long as she's within a certain radius. She's the pinnacle of wanting to be left alone. That and if these people understood anything at all, she's a burn victim from a fire that killed her family. And thus she dresses like that to cover to the burns.

I need to ask what was wrong with her original design that the artist went to completely ignore the entire character just to make them darker. The only reason they could've chose that was because they hated the character for not being "POC" enough. What. the. hell.

It's a shame when they completely miss the point. I'm surprised none of these guys glomped onto this character from a nearly 30 year old program for possibily living up to their standards skin-wise (of course she's from Africa anyway so whatever, they'll give her a plump hairy body, deep pastel fushia hair, big nose and blue eyelids in no time).....

(Honestly I kind of like the art style in this picture except for the fact that the three of them all have the Tumblr Red Nose™ and the anatomy could use a little work, and there's also the fact that this rendering of Star looks less like her actual character)

Tumblr also really likes the idea of Marco being trans and bi when he wore a dress in like one episode.
I couldn't really give a shit whether or not people use headcanons for characters, but I just hate when it's always shoehorned into something, especially if it hasn't been considered canon. I get that some people are trying to be progressive but sometimes it just comes off as condescending and annoying.

This might seem unimportant to some but I really just wanted to get this side note out there.
I just find it funny that SJW artists always want to be progressive and redraw/make their own characters and say that they don't want anyone generalizing a group of people, yet their art does the exact same thing. Half of the things that these SJWs draw literally look like racist caricatures (for example, the Mei from Overwatch redraw that was mentioned earlier in the thread), and I feel like there are some that take full knowledge of it, and actually take pride in it. They probably have the "b-but it's progressive and if you disagree with me you're a disgusting racist, transphobic, homophobic, and sexist cis pig" mentality so that no one will call them out on it. I don't exactly know if this is accurate, but I just wanted to add something else.

The only problem I had with it would be the abnormally large mouth and how the shading makes it look like he has a gap tooth. Though like with what exhausted said, exaggerating parts like that make it a caricature. After viewing 700+ pages of shitty tumblr art, it's more tame. With that in mind, I feel desensitized to a lot of the art.
