Valve to Open Up the Steam Store

Oh sure, they love censorship and getting rid of the things they hate, at least, until the people censoring shit come right for them. Why do these game journalists think the things the like and promote will be free from punishment if valve went in the opposite direction?

people who voldemort gamergate are fucking wild

"It's your responsibility to not look at them." Yes, Ben you fucking cuck idiot. I know you think that's sarcastic but that is exactly what the fuck it is. Or find somewhere else to be an autistic idiot.

Remember, SJWs appeal to authority constantly. Nothing is ever their fault or someone's personal responsibility. Its always someone else's fault. Valve basically going, 'Don't talk to us about it, deal with it' strips them of their power to enforce their own morality and forces them to be personally responsible. Basically two things they can't stand.

So, uh, Gamergate 2: Electric Boogaloo or nah?
Nah. Oh, the usual suspects like Ben Kuchera are crying, but honestly, this is just good business sense.

As Shaftie says, freedom's a good thing. Freedom is also scary. You're the one responsible for your decisions -- no one else. And you have to be the one dealing with the consequences of those decisions. Freedom is the right to make bad decisions as well -- eating at Chipotle's, listening to Nickelback, or, well, buying a crappy game. Live and learn.

In agreement that this is the best decision Valve could have made. Put up whatever you want and the market will decide. Filter out content you don't want recommended to you, be it titties, Nazis or genderfluid depression simulators. We will be quiet mediators, not your parents.

They aren't kowtowing to SJWs or Christian fundamentalists masquerading as SJWs. Because in the end, Valve wants to make as much money as possible, and gamers want to play games without people telling them what they're allowed to play—regardless of whether those naysayers wear hoop earrings or magic underwear.

In a free-market society, the market decides what lives and what fails. That's why the government should not force a bakery to make a gay cake. It's why anybody who puts "No Niggers Allowed" in their store window will probably see a sharp decline in customers.

Pretty sure in Valve's statement 'illegal' means straight up CP, terrorist training apps or plagiarism. Laws determine legality, yes, but there are existing laws that should be common sense to everyone.

Also not surprised that SJWs are melting down over this. The end result of what SJWs rally for is Communism, and Valve not acting like a government nanny state offends their utopian red society sensibilities.

I am wondering, however, if NCOSE really had any influence in the first place at all or if they were just taking credit.

dude OG gamergate is still full throttle, google it to see how many times journalists - not just games journalists - invoke its spectre 4 years later - it's literally daily

More shitty RPG maker games great

eh valve never restricted those, the 2 hour refund window really eliminated the zero effort games tbh

Meanwhile their competitor, Itch.io (which is like the Tumblr of game storefronts, loaded with nothing but shovelware walking sims and text adventures about "transgirls" hating their dad) didn't just shoot themselves in the foot, but they blew it off with C4.

There was only one man whose word could move copies, and love him or hate him, that was Total Biscuit (Rest in Peace). But most of you guys hated him and wanted him dead. So now rely on your journo friends to move your game copies. See you in hell, you massive faggots.
Total Biscuit was a major example of the gaming press losing their power. Nowadays the average consumer is going to take what a YouTuber says over what the press says, especially as their reputation has been tainted so much, and well before GamerGate it was already on a downward slide thanks to incidents like the Kane & Lynch Gamespot firings.

I would have never guessed the itchio guy was a faggot, I was under the impression it was just faggots putting their games up on the site.

What happened to not buying shitty games?

I sometimes perversely with they'd give them what they want, promise to get rid of offensive material, and then immediately ban all games with trans or queer content, on the grounds that it's offensive to conventional morality.

Remember: It was never about morality or ethics or freedom of expression, it was only about what you're "allowed" to see. I hate these ideologues masquerading as "games journalists." They're just so repulsively transparent. I can't stand all of the weeb garbage that Steam routinely pushes my direction whenever I boot up the platform, but if Valve is willing to give me a robust blacklist filter that lets me circumnavigate ever having to see them again?

Fuck it, bring on the anime titties.
They can publish as many as they goddamned want, it won't be my problem.

It's nice to see things haven't changed with game journalism since way back then.

So, uh, Gamergate 2: Electric Boogaloo or nah?

I personally believe there's never going to be another Gamergate(which is good, but means less entertainment). The original kicked off not because of Zoe Quinn, but because they swarmed to protect their own amid the allegations, and that well...that confirmed what was already suspect. I dunno shit because I NEVER relied on game journo publications in my life, I started out trusting Steam reviews and actual gamers on youtube more. I suspect a lot of others did too, and all Gamergate really did was break the dam and let it all flow out. Everyone that gave a crap enough finally saw the full breadth of game journalism's corruption and bullshit.

No one's gonna care enough now, because all this stuff, such as the above HK posted, is just the bullies still trying to act tough after everyone figured out they're nothing and moved on. Passing glances at most.

I can't stress enough though, how much I love this decision. I actually liked Huniepop, though I like match three.

Bring it all on! I wanna see what unrestricted freedom can offer video games.

Just wait until a game called "Kill all Niggers" or "Lynch the Fags" comes out, they might reconsider this. In fact, I hope these games are for some reason actually well made and enjoyable so that it finds an audience and the homepage is now polluted with people hanging from ropes and big nazi flags. I'm fucking dying just imagining the spectacle in my head.
Coming soon to Steam™.
