So it's been a while. We've made some headway and new discoveries, but one of the biggest now has emerged:
It's now entirely possible to beat the final boss without losing anyone and not using some bullshit like damage stacking. All you need to do is go into the final mission with just two people. For the first time, a legit no death run for the (the) Kiwi Farms is now a possibility.
But that's a long way off and Color of Madness is coming in like a week and a half, so let's get right into things.
Our team is actively pursuing the Baron, and
@Ruin,
@Jaimas,
@Bones, and the impressively buxom
@Sable are clearing the way.
I know I've brought it up before, but Thrall is a fucking beast. It has easily one of the highest damage outputs in the game and its ability to bring the pain is impressive since it also reliably does bleed. Its main issue is that it's relatively inaccurate, but a few trinkets can help solve that problem. Seeing Bones here punch a relatively high-level enemy into paste in one strike is far from unheard of.
The Omen Seeker really comes into her own when it comes to debuffing and party support. In addition to a natural bonus against Bloodsuckers with her whip (because Castlevania reference), she has some outstanding stun, bleed, and even damage powers. Her strongest ability is Holy Water - this ability will clear blight and bleed procs from an enemy, but it is armor-piercing, will
always do significantly more damage if the target is blighted, and
always critically hit if the target is bleeding. If set up alongside
@Existential Crisis or
@Ruin, she's an outstanding heavy hitter which is weird because she really isn't on her own. Also I find it hilarious that despite the fact that her character model is ludicrously busty (and has jiggle physics), she not only fits the theme, but her background actually makes sense within the context of Darkest Dungeon. Sort of impressive, and
@Sable has become one of my favorite additions to this party as a result.
The Dragonslayer Knight is.... Strange. It's a very mobile fighter, constantly shuffling position, and with extremely high dodge comparative to a character of his type, but he has some drawbacks to compensate. It has a very high damage frontline stab that also can stun, but it also nails him with a massive debuff that takes away his formidable agility for a bit. He's got things like a Riposte (seen here) and armor piercing lightning attacks, but he's also curiously fragile for a character of this type (roughly on par with the Highwayman), and his damage output isn't quite as impressive as others. Still, I love this dude and I'm glad to use him for all further runs. I'll bite the Ornstein bullet, faggots, fite me.
@Ruin, of course, is the single best healer we have. No joke. She isn't quite as strong as a maxed-out Vestal or Occultist, but she can cure blights and bleeds while doing it, heal a substantial amount of stress, and cure Horror for good measure. While she has no damage output whatsoever in her human form, her monstrous form will tear opponents limb from limb with vicious claws and blight.
As the Crocodilian recently learned when we kicked his ass. Nom.
Unfortunately, when we got back,
this fucking happened. Unlike last time, I was nowhere
near ready for this asshole this time, with my finances in the toilet and a limited arsenal of troops I could bring along.
Shit was about to get real.
