I feel like when “nobody cares if the writers are gay” is said, these people’s autism overrides and they retranslate this to mean “nobody cares about gay people’s opinion.” I suspect they have trained themselves to do this out of fear for accepting what the actual truth of the matter is; being gay isn’t special.
And honestly, on average, no one cares if someone is gay. I live in the Bible Belt and there are gays that go to church on Sunday with their straight neighbors and no one cares. I went to a catholic school where nothing about Jesus hating the homos was taught and openly gay students walked the halls with their gay partners. No one cared. Gay marriage was legalized and met with a resounding shrug. No one cared.
And I think that simple truth bothers the fuck out of them. They come parading out of the closet, expecting everyone to stand and clap in solidarity, and instead everyone just nods and goes back to eating dinner.Being gay in current year isn’t s big deal anymore. It was a big deal in the past, but not today. It’s normal. It’s been normal. And when things are normal nobody really pays attention to or cares about it. It’s not “daring” or “taboo” to be gay anymore...it’s boring.
Welcome to boring normalcy, faggots. Enjoy being treated equally in how much nobody cares about you as an individual because you’re equally as boring as everyone around you.
It's the 'Only Gay in the Village' syndrome.
