The sad thing about all this "Everyone is literally a Nazi!!" reeing is that now when I hear about a hate-crime taking place, my first instinct is to be skeptical since it's all been bullshit so many times.

I understand that the LGBT have had a rocky relationship with the police in the past, but I'd argue that more than ever, the police are actually trying to help them now. I don't understand that just because a few cops decided to be dicks, no one can be a cop and a morally good person anymore. More of the "it's us against them!" mentality that shines it's ugly head.

The reason why you need cops at huge organized protests and parades is because all it takes is one minor misstep before people start wailing on one another. You can not count on people to make the best decisions when they're angry or drunk. You need some sort of outer force to keep control. I can't believe these people don't understand such a concept.

Then again a LGBT cop must be a conundrum to them.

An issue I have with the 'no cops at pride' movement is, with fighting violent homophobia in mind, isn't advertising to possible violent homophobes that you're proudly getting rid of the people there to protect you from attacks, kind of a really bad idea?

I know they don't like his decisions sometimes because he seems to have heard of the constitution, but this guy seemed like the definition of a moderate. He didn't go along party lines, he went with what he felt was constitutional.

But yeah, a completely routine supreme court replacement signifies the end of democracy. That's really the first thing autocratic tyrants do when they take over, they follow the government procedures, respect the rule of law, horrible things like that... We should have known after trump became president just because he won the election, that's exactly what nazis do.

Tanney's decision was just one of many James Bond kicks to the wrecked car that was Antebellum America that led to it falling off the cliff into the Civil War. His decision inflamed the already inflamed tensions. The most these idiots can scream about is Roe v. Wade being overturned, a court decision even many pro-choice people believe was a mistake. Even then, I don't expect Roe v. Wade to be overturned overnight. Trump already made clear that he is choosing from his already predetermined list of 25 potential supreme court nominees:

I'll bet if they tried to over turn Roe v. Wade you'd have some serious riots. (And it's my cynical view that most so-called "pro-life" politicians don't really want that to happen either, because then it's one less issue to rally up their base)

A more accurate concern is that we're just going to get an activist court that undoes acts of Congress it doesn't like, while pretend it's being "originalist."

Not sure how that's worse than a liberal court that overturns laws it doesn't like for no legal reason and being open about it. At least a conservative court would probably just want to maintain the status quo.

Even Lincoln said some stuff that, by today’s hyper-sensitive standards, would be seen by most people as pretty retarded.
