Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

What would seem more likely:
  • Disney firing Kennedy and restarting their era of SW from scratch?
  • Disney firing Kennedy and stops making SW movies and media and instead focusses on the theme parks?
  • Disney firing Kennedy and spinning Lucasfilm off from the company? (Note: I know I asked this a billion times on this thread and it seems like a dangerous option financially since real estate in the theme parks are involved now but I just would like to see a realistic response to this option).
Kennedy for sure I think will get the boot from Disney.

Disney firing Kennedy and trying to salvage Episode IX.

It feels like Disney is about to give up on Lucasfilm.

(Incoming :powerlevel: and story) About two months after The Force Awakens came out, some friends and I went out to drink with someone who was interning with Lucasfilm, specifically under Kennedy. While we were talking one of my friends brought up that I was a huge Indiana Jones fan growing up and that my dream as a kid would've been to right my own adventure. The intern asked me what adventure I'd like to see for Indiana Jones and I told him that it would be cool if they did a story about Indiana Jones having to find Hitler's doomsday device, which would be the Ring of King Solomon. The intern told me that the story didn't really sound like something they'd do because they were trying to be as "inclusive as possible" and that they were hoping "to escape the confines of Judeo-Christian propaganda of the first three movies." Needless to say I knew right then and there that the movies were going to be bad and as such gave up on them."

Absolutely exceptional.

To think people are actually looking forward to the Disney/Fox merger with superficial management like this going on.

I'm sticking with completing ep 9 because there's too many contracts wrapped up in it, riding out any existing media deals, bend the remaining construction of Star Wars Land to downplay the sequels as much as possible, and put it on the back burner for a few years.

My bet is that Kennedy is actually going to be "promoted" out of the way because they've painted themselves into a corner to try and get rid of her. They can't let her go so she's going to be shifted to where she can't do much damage.
  • They'll finish E9 in as safe a manner as possible. Possibly having the movie open with Rose flying Leia's ship and it getting destroyed.
  • Rian's trilogy is going to be gone - he might get lucky and get it in spin-off material.
  • They'll aim for 1 more spin off film - Kenobi to try and soothe fans and go to a break on a high note.
  • They'll then concentrate on the park and salvaging the brand. I'd be willing to bet around this time is when they'll release ORIGINAL Star Wars trilogy on blu-ray. They may even do a blade-runner thing and release all 3 movies in super collector sets with all 42 versions of each film in there. I am dead serious that I bet Disney is refraining from rereleasing originals as an emergency profit plan*.
  • Anyway, during this the yearly films will be on indefinite hiatus - they'll concentrate on smaller, cheaper products for awhile like tie-ins and TV - like launching their own streaming service with a SW exclusive TV show to sell it.
  • It'll go on hold then for probably 5 years then they'll feel like the public has forgotten enough to give them another chance - ASSUMING they can find someone to helm it that really seems like they have a vision for the series. This person will probably have cut their teeth on some of the smaller SW projects.
And all this is assuming we don't have a third civil war by then.

*In fact - I think it's with some Fox deals that there are problems with releasing the original SW, so if Disney buys Fox, I'll bet my shiny metal ass that part of the deal will be to finally be able to rerelease the originals.

"to escape the confines of Judeo-Christian propaganda of the first three movies."

Your friend was probably lucky @Mola Ram wasn't there to remind them of the Kali-Ma propaganda that was actually in the 2nd film.

Judeo-Christian propaganda

What the fuck is he talking about?

What the fuck is he talking about?

He was of the opinion that the first three Indiana Jones movies were Christian Propaganda films like God's Not Dead and A Thief in the Night. Also this guy's favorite Indiana Jones movie (and I shit you not) was Crystal Skull because it was a "Science based movie that anyone could enjoy, including atheists like himself'

I'm so glad I have horrifying now

Sometimes I forget that the stereotype of the smug, autistic atheist is based in truth. Then shit like this reminds me *sigh*

Fucking how? Yeah, Indy's going after artifacts based on stuff from Christianity, but the movies never shove religion down your throat, besides maybe Temple of Doom, but even then Christianity is barely mentioned in the movie. There's never a moment where everyone stops and says, "Gee, isn't Jesus just great?"

For fuck's sake, Indy himself breaks at least several commandments, most importantly murdering people, stealing shit, and refusing to talk to his father for decades. Trying to insinuate that somehow Indiana Jones is Judeo-Christian propaganda is laughable when you remember who the protagonist is.

And this guy's under Kathleen Kennedy you said? Jesus Christ, no wonder the people behind Star Wars are a bunch of chucklefucks.

When you're the type of exceptional individual who thinks having Asperger's syndrome automatically makes you the smartest person in the room, you're bound to come up with theories like this.

>Having a disorder that impairs the function of mirror neurons so that you're objectively worse at learning things from other people than a person without the disorder
>Being the smartest person in the room

That guy should learn to pick one, and only one.

I always thought it was obvious each film featured a different religion; Judaism, Hinduism, and finally Christianity. The big glitch is that while the first and third films were able to sell "Jewish / Christian stuff is awesome" the second was a bit more "Hinduism is creepy and weird."

What a weird thing to say, imo. For a moment I thought he would change the subject to how the new films would offer Islamic propaganda, or something. (And then my brain farted hard for a moment and thought he was talking about Star Wars, and I got blocked - the new films are trying hard to pander to latino audiences. Latinos are mostly Catholic. it's just bizarre).

But then I remember both Atheist and Islamophiles have a rage boner for Christianity/Judaism, so yeah...

I think the problem with that fine documentary about the glory of Kali-ma is that you delicate Western flowers thought the entirely accurate depiction of our cuisine was icky and racist. Spoken just like a white man who never had the pleasure of dining on chilled monkey brains.
