Phil really has boxed himself in. He has a horrible reputation across the internet so if he ever did leave streaming and tried to do something else, one quick social media search on this guy and people will run from away from him. Not to mention he now has a gap in his CV the size of the grand canyon after being a professional pandhandler for 10 years this is his only way of making money at this point. He is completely unemployable. His demise will be hard and fast

If Pewdiepie, Phillip DeFranco, or some other Youtuber/Streamer along those lines suddenly had to jump ship, they probably have some skill they could use. Social media, social presence, video editing, etc. Hell, even just their name as a personality for hire. But DSP's got nothing. He doesn't edit or have any real production, so he can't help produce content behind the scenes. No way anyone would hire him to be a writer. He has a negative reputation (which you mentioned), ruining the chances of him being a personality of any description. He doesn't have any real experience managing people, so his "business degree" (assuming it's valid) may as well go right out the window.

If he had to jump ship, I can't think of any way of switching to a different job without a career reset. Obviously, I know who I'm talking about. It probably wouldn't happen anyway. But just something I've been thinking about in general.

Maybe so, but there could be policy changes in Twitch, Youtube,etc that could further reduce his income, like with Nintendo's whole streamer program (which he's so pridefully stupid as to not join and prefer to get nothing for playing mario tennis).

Even though Twitch has already changed so much since Phil started using it he would be totally caught off guard if Twitch eventually evolved into something that hurt his "kwality khantent." It wouldn't even be the first time he went through something like that and yet no doubt he would be blindsided declaring there was "nothing I could do" and "I can't predict the future."

While looking stuff up for this post I came across this page that lists all of the non gaming things you can stream on Twitch (about 3/4 down the page). https://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/2176641-creative-faq That is where they are now, who knows where they will be in 2 years or 5 or 10. If Phil is banking on making his "10 year legacy" a 15 or 20 year legacy who knows what Twitch will become, if Twitch will even be around, or hell maybe the let's play trend as a whole dies out. Websites and trends can change or even just disappear very quickly, and the only time Phil is quick is (insert premature ejaculation joke here)

That goes without saying. It's even more comical when you look at how youtubers like the AVGN were doing direct capture back in '06.

His first episode Castlevania 2 was recorded back in 2004 and that had direct capture from a NES. Episode 2 Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was filmed with a camera at a wonky angle to show the fact how much he hated that game and could not even be bothered to do direct capture on it. DSP adopted that style for his channel till 2013 lol.

I am genuinely pleased that someone ran with the new Poop Emoji Head nickname for Pineapple Head. Had conflicted feelings about clowning the only guy on there with any sense, but then remembered the whole 'if you lied down with dogs...' thing. He at least seems to recognize the absurdity of Swagginz. He's probably about 60-65% detractor so, don't be surprised if we see him at some future time.

Yeah, this has always blown my fucking mind. The Swagginz $300 cheer was what I thought would be the ceiling for how much someone could punk themselves just for the honor of a fucking bit badge, but this is just jaw-dropping.

The fact that there is someone who allegedly 'supports' this guy, and that apparently is able to blow $1000 on them and a) doesn't just give him the thousand as a tip, which he would get immediately instead of in two months, b) give him the $500 as a tip, which benefits DSP in the previously mentioned ways AND saves himself $500, and c) forgoes both of those options and instead chooses to give him half the money he has available, at twice the price, that DSP won't get for months, ALL for a fucking badge and their name on a leaderboard, makes me incredibly curious / frightened to see what is gonna happen that will top this. Something more bashing one's head into the wall level of puzzling WILL happen, and it's gonna be something WORSE than all of that *shudder*

I wonder how long people will buy this tightrope act. I'm amazed he's managed to keep it up this long. Somehow I doubt there'll ever be a month that he admits to paying his bills comfortably. Phil's argument is that his Twitch is rapidly growing and he's had a couple of record-breaking months recently. But he's still only JUST BARELY paying his bills. Doesn't sound like a viable business model to me, but then again I don't have a business degree. Alternatively, he's lying. They're the only 2 options but the paypigs never reach one of them.

What's not to understand? Phil has bills that clear all month at all times. That's grown-up adult stuff though, so maybe you wouldn't understand. Seriously tho, who has bills that 'clear' as often as this guy? He may not be so blatant as to say it all month long, but he will say it at different times every month, because that's how bills work. They have new due dates every month! It's just one of his more go-to lies when he needs to cry poor.

I don't know. For as much as he bitches, he is REALLY reluctant to ditch You Tube in lieu of more focus on Twitch. I think he must get decent money through his partnership. Remember, he has an old channel with over 50,000 (jeezus) videos. He doesn't get shit for views now on new stuff, but even if he stopped putting out new content, he'd still essentially be getting paid all day, every day just from the sheer volume of past uploads.

What scares me is that I work in healthcare, and that is one field where a LOT of 40 to almost 60-something's go to 'start from scratch' after being laid off or somehow otherwise losing a previous career. Especially things like tech positions (patient care, x-ray, etc). Jobs that take 1-2 years of schooling and can easily make 40k starting out. After his hospital visit with the Panda, I would fear for anyone in Phil's care. Though since you have to, even if only on a tiny level, care about other people to want to do it, my fear is probably unfounded and he'll likely try and milk his back for disability. He's the level of lazy where he would intentionally injure himself to get SS rather than work an actual 9-5.

"It's okay when I murder people! I'm not like those other wackos on the news who mass murder tons of people just for the attention!! When I murder, I have a motive! My kills are legit! THAT MAKES IT OKAY!!! The world doesn't just have the people who don't murder anyone and the ones who murder everyone!! I can get away with being in the grey area!! But your not mature, so I don't expect you to get that!".

watching the latest snort upload, it seems I overheard phill crediting his clairvoyant nature and extensive research as to why he finds himself with a pocket full of equity. I would love to hear him elaborate on this alot more. that's the first time I've heard him describe the specifics of his research, outside of taxes.... he also sees/ hopes for continued value increase for 7 years.... His argument would also be better if he was describing anyone else except Markiplier now and Pewdiepie from 5 - 6 years ago. He can't be like "All big Youtubers are like this" then clam up when asked to give examples, or just list Pewdiepie and Markiplier and nobody else.
