NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

As a brown guy, why do so many whites feel the need to be offended on my behalf? There's rarely physical harm, and I'd argue racism as a whole generally doesnt even rank in the top 10 most fucked up problems in our world today.
User banned (Permanent): downplaying racism.

I wonder if SweetNicholas is the sort of self googling schizo to try to come here and defend his honor. I hope so. I dearly, dearly hope so.
Forum Moderators on a perpetual power trip will never be caught dead outside the spaces in which they hold that power. Skimming his links in the dox, the twitter is abandoned, as is twitch & warframe accounts. Hasn't been logged into Steam in 5 days, and the page is heavily privatized(very rare for Steam). All of his social needs are met via Discord & ResetEra, on which he holds absolute sway as a launch moderator to block anything he doesn't like about himself or his past. He'd never acknowledge this place exists, let alone visit, and he'd delete any dox of him shared in those places swiftly. The Daybreak/Planetside 2 link is the only one with a little chuckle, still identifying as male in a game as of 2015:

This could be worth watching. A thread titled "I'm a white guy and I'm fucking sick of racism."

What a fucking bellend.

Why even bother saying that on REEE? It's like starting a thread here to say you think lolcows are funny.

Tbh only incels do that "FEEEEEmales" shit and it's cringy as hell.

O RLY?

When you've been a "woman" for less than 3 years, and now get to enforce narratives about women supposedly think and believe. Only the most privileged white man could pull off such a feat.

All those women (males) complaining how female is "sexist" :story:

EDIT: CosmicBlizzard supposedly registered onto TheBore after getting permanently banned and uploaded this screenshot from his PMs. http://www.thebore.com/forum/index.php?topic=45505.msg2462278#msg2462278 (https://archive.fo/UhDyA)

Mild annoyance at hearing the exact same word used as a low-effort post translate into an uncontrollable rage in PhazonBlonde's eyes, apparently. The bitter irony of this exchange is that they themselves threw themselves at a fit of rage in response to these people saying it's annoying. That's some next level self-awareness.

Thread has been unlocked. Now up to 8 bans and 3 warnings with all but 2 from before the lock.

They seriously expect sophisticated, nuanced responses to a thread whose original post three sentences of whining? Calling it trivial isn't trolling, it's genuinely adding to the discussion. It's supposed to be a forum, not some blog for people to blurt the first thing on their minds onto.

I'm just trying to understand what the moderator is intending to form this thread into with these bans. Do they genuinely just want post after post of incessant complaining over such an inane matter?

(Probably yes.)

Good lord...from being on the outside looking in its entertaining watching this trainwreck happen....when would you pinpoint a revolt or implosion happening do you think??

Do you think it will be a 3rd site which sails into view with unbiased mods or will people scurry back to neogaf??

There are actually some pretty cool people that post on that board and surely the rational and open thinking poster would be beginning to see something is amiss and beginning to question what exactly is going on.

Been great reading about all this stuff has been a real eye opener.

It's just a play on a fallacy beloved by extremists of all sides. "It doesn't matter that %STORY was fake, the fact it was believable speaks to Deep Issues in Society™", the problem being that said story is only believable if you subscribe to their ideology

"It doesn't matter that [insert name of male celebrity here] never actually raped anyone - what matters is that it started a conversation!"

I get the impression that most of the bans come from the non-gaming side of the forum, so people who only check threads about games wouldn't even notice the shit we see here (which focus on the bans). So no, if you joined that site to discuss politics you are already banned and if you joined to discuss video games after neogaf imploded the couple of bans you may see are a normal occurrence to you.

Why do people use female? Maybe because they were taught correct syntax in school? Maybe because it's used to define things sharply?

"She's a beautiful woman."
"She's a female fire-fighter."
"It's a women's only space."
"This area restricted to females only."

I think a lot of the "DON'T USE FEMALE! REEEE!" comes from a lot of the troons. (Majority of the time people have tried blasting me over it, it's been troons) They can claim they're women, but they aren't female, so hearing "Female spaces" makes them throw a REEE-Rave.

Or I'm just a brain damaged tard.

It's exactly this. Transwomen do not, and cannot argue they're female. This makes it more important than ever to start using male and female to refer to people by sex, if you actually want to be specific about it.

It's mostly semantic wrangling, they fail to grasp linguistics articulates thoughts rather than shapes them. You can change the terms around as much as you like it doesnt really make any differance if they you can't persuade anyone you're a girl.
These people mistake symbolic victories for relevent ones, which is why they're slowly isolating themselves from everyone else. They think they;ll win the war by putting a pretty pink bow on reality and hiding in their little pillow fort.

No...quite a few have come up in the gaming forums whenever anyone mentions trannys...women in games (bf5) and everyone's favorite topic...gamergate.

The moderation in the gaming forum is just as fucked

The board is also still full of rabid Sony fanboys who appear to be directing their attention from Microsoft towards Nintendo as they are seen as the bigger threat.

Gaf while slow as shit now at least has open and constructive conversations...I suspect there has been quite a few people coming back...would be great to see a member count compared against resetera and their ban hammer wave.

I can't tell you why they find the need to just screech at people for saying "female," nor why this is such a touchy subject that the mods need to start banning wrongthink. But I can say that most people are just ever-so-slightly put off by it because it sounds unusual.

My rule of thumb has always been "use it as an adjective or be consistent." That is, you would use "female" to describe something, like a female police officer or a female banker. Otherwise if you use "female" as a noun, then use "male" as a noun as well instead of calling them "men," and the reverse is also true. Otherwise if you have a conversation where, for example, you say "I see five women and two males," it sounds like you're treating men like some separate species and vice-versa.

But, and this is a big but, this all just sounds odd to people on personal, individualistic level. Normal people don't go out of their way to correct somebody like a pedant nor do they throw big temper tanties over it, probably because it doesn't matter. That's how normal people operate and unlike these posters, normal people don't enforce their own perspectives onto others. It's the same tier as correcting people who say "irregardless." Yes, it's fine to think it's odd, but nobody cares that it bothers you and you look like a lunatic for yelling at people to speak otherwise.
