2018-07-20 Curse Drops DSPGaming - It just doesn't make (Ad)Sense...

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

How long will it take for this to get fixed with no work from DSP?

He never lost Youtube before (aside from very brief periods this time seems to be permanent). That's the big thing. Not unless he's lying about his finances I don't see him holding onto that Washington condo for that much longer.

If kat wasnt living with him he would have had it up for sale by now. Honestly his youtube numbers have been super shit for a long ass time anyway. I think this is all another excuse to just beg for more money

But with no kat hed be gone from the house by now. Even if she makes minimum wage for sake of argument thats an extra 40 grand at his disposal. And who knows maybe she makes a good bit more than that. If he was alone he would have to by himself pay for food, gas, monthly electric bills and internet etc. Even his twitch #'s haven't been all that great lately. He only hits the sub goal once the queen and a few others decide to gift a shitload by the deadline. The way I look at it is a few months after he broke up with Panda and was begging for money, someone just sent a 40 grand donation. (yes some of the costs go to her food as well but thats a big boost and again maybe she makes even more)

If she dumps him he will have no choice but to suck up his pride, put the house up for sale, and move back to conn for the time being. The same retards will probably help him out the most they can for another few months. But the way the cycle goes is a big supporter or 2 of his chooses to drop out after realizing how stupid they were and how dsp couldnt give a fuck about anything they say or any advice. He always loses a pretty big fan every few months and then the remaining cult will try to make up for it. But the rate he is at now he cant afford at all too lose another member of the cult. Hes hanging alive by the thinnest string

I maintain he has at least a $2 CPM, if not higher sometimes.

I think the $2 CPM has been unrealistic since at least the end of last year.

Searching 'average youtube cpm' will bring up $2, but that was 2015, and a lot has changed since then.

(I can't really defend my argument further, because I wouldn't be able to find the sources talking about this I'm remembering).

Given the 'adpocolypse' etc., and DSP's lowly position in the Youtube ecosystem, it may be prudent to keep an asterisk in mind next to the $2 estimate :/

Phil will continue to scrap by, shredding every ounce of pride and self-respect he has for the sake of maintaining his "legacy". There's no point going "20__ is the year DSP dies". I say let him continue to eek out a life. Let him continue to beg and whine until even his most loyal paypigs get tired of it an leave because they realize it's a never-ending crisis. Every year that he insists on struggling with his dead legacy is just another nail in the long-term coffin.
The best part of Phil watching is the clawing to keep any sort of career. It’s like watching karma work in real time. Every time he complains about how nothing is his fault but there’s video evidence is like a study in cause and effect. There are so few real-world examples of assholes getting comeuppance that it’s refreshing to see Phil just get shit on every day.

It’s even better when people give him advice and he yells about how that doesn’t work in the real world even though most of the advice is taken from real success stories. “Use a green screen to look more professional” “Play fortnight” “Cut down on your prestream time.” Etc. Digging your heals in and being stubborn to the point of insulting your audience is a bad way to run a business. Phil “Number One Business Expert who Dindu Nuffin Rong” Burnell proves it.

I feel like this is the beginning of the end for him.

1. His original account was revoked after telling people to click on ads.
2. Supposedly today he admitted to a youtube help email that he created a second adsense account to get around the fact his first one was banned (again breaking the ToS).
3. He's shifting to Twitch where he's been called out numerous times and have a huge amount of reports filed against him for breaking ToS.
4. He already has 2 strikes on Twitch.

Its gonna take one more twitch ban and he's going to be completely done for. He needs to be on his best behavior.

It'll be interesting to see how much hed make hypothetically from just current playthroughs on his alt channel that's never been as popular.

@EddyB43 might have an answer for that. I look at last month's and it was like 40-50% from playthrough video within only the current month.

I think the $2 CPM has been unrealistic since at least the end of last year.

You would think so, but it matched his claims about Youtube vs. Twitch income from last year, and it actually underestimates his apparent CPM from May. Now, granted, this is based on Phil's statements, so add a boulder of salt to this. But it does square with the ballpark estimate of taxes (mostly state) that he's claimed to owe (he said less than 10K at one point early on in the tax saga for the 2.5 years he had been in WA).

Regardless, it's mostly an estimate.

I just went to his channel with ublock off, and I got ads on two different videos. So as of right now, I don't believe his statement that he can't run ads. One possibility is that the contract hasn't officially ended yet, so there'll be ads until the end of the day or something.
He has claimed Curse still claims all of his videos and has jumped to the conclusion that he won't be getting that money. I believe he will probably get any money they make off his videos until the release those claims honestly.

Considering how hard the adpocalypse has fucked content creators multiple times over the past few years, 2 dollars seems really high.

Even before the adpocolypse he would still be earning jack shit.

His money comes from quantity rather than quality. He can film an hour session and make 6 videos out of it and thats what he does. Its why he rarely gets over 1k views, its just a pump and dump.

Someone already pointed this out in response to one of your other posts speculating Kat makes $40k a year, but your numbers are seriously exaggerated.

Even if she worked 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year at $15/hr, she would only bring in $31,200 BEFORE taxes and deductions. It’s common knowledge that low wage employees nearly never get full time hours every week unless they’re a manager, and we know Kat isn’t bc she just started this job a few months ago. More realistic is 20-25 hours a week, which is max $19,500 BEFORE money is taken out. So she’s likely bringing in around $18k. Kat? MORE than $40k a year? Absolutely inconceivable.

Remember, Phil needs his main channel monetized for passive income from old videos that were actually popular.

This. Some people don't get that that is where he got the majority of his cash from. It's not from new playthroughs.

so hes acting like his life is over. and hes going to be homeless here soon cause no more ad money. but then goes on to say he cant wait to take tomorrow off cause of all his stress.

hes hemorrhaging money from the sounds of it. and decides to take a day off. doesnt this seem a little suspicious.

i think its the usual phil, sure he lost some money. but the victim role he gets to play will be all the better for it. hes clearly just manipulating people and trying to pull on their heart strings. he doesnt need adsense.

people telling him to sell the house and hes telling them theyre just negative idiots and not real adults. you know why? cause he doesnt have to, he has enough money to keep it and more.

he still makes 700 a month from patreon. and most comes from twitch. so i wont get my hopes up that this will be the end of phil until his twitch dies. if that happens, i do believe the era of dipshitphil the narcissistic, egotistical, self-absorbed, conceited, selfish, pathological liar, con artist, fabricator, petty, hypocritical, racist, piece of garbage will finally over.

He most certainly needs the ad revenue from youtube. Twitch is his main cash cow and right now he is milking the little cows hard, but at the end of the day Phil probably pulls at least $1500+ from youtube a month which is his condo payment. You start losing that kind of money every month and expect already overworked wallets to spew out more money to make up for it, you won't last.

His plan b apparently is to hop on to Amazon's youtube competitor when it launches. We will never get rid of Dave.

Is that even an option for Phil? I thought Amazon's video service was going to be catered to more edited, episodic stuff like AVGN or Red Letter Media to throw out some examples. Are they really gonna tolerate Phil's "pump and dump" uploading tactics?

Assuming the Youtube money is really mostly (or completely) gone, the big question is whether he can sustain his Twitch income or not. This month has been exceptionally unusual in terms of cheers and tips. He's already up to $3000 in cheers alone, but that also includes a $500, $300, and multiple $100 cheers by austmink, swagginz, and lordlamb. So a minimum of $1000 was from people whaling, and LordLamb will be gone (at some point) in basic training. So you have swagginz and austmink, both of whom have capped out around $500-600 in a month. Your next highest people are Octoa and Infinite_55, who are maybe good for $200 in an up month. 007Blaine comes in with big tips every now and again.

But it boils down to relying on irregular large cheers and tips to keep Phil afloat, and I don't see how that can work. As much as he wants to insist that his channel is growing, his average viewership is more or less the same (according to twitchtracker), and his subs are more or less the same (ignoring outliers like Jan/Feb 2018).

indeed, the question now is how long will the whales last before they leave or run dry. after that. ill think phil is done for
