It's about more than that IMO.

These things tend to come in waves, so James Gunn could be only the beginning.

Also, there's a clear and palpable fear of seeing leftist-tactics against leftists, because they used those tactics before and know how effective they can be.

Petitions and boycotts are pretty much a guaranteed failure, even more so when you're trying to convince DISNEY to hire someone back who was making rape and pedo jokes. Sorry, that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

It's great that when hoist by their own petard (i.e. some past history of political incorrectness) these guys have no insight whatsoever except to squawk "it's okay when we do it but not GAMERGATEEEE"

I think slowly but surely people from Reeeeeeeeee are going to move back to NeoGAF. Not all of them of course because some actually like the raging dumpster fire that RE has become. RE's reputation at this point might actually be worse than NeoGAF at its lowest of lows.

Resetera posters are a breed that hate to admit they're wrong and hold grudges for eternity. They'll form their own communities to split from Resetera before ever returning to Neogaf.

Obviously a few will return but not the majority.
