I don't like twitch, and I don't like phil. One banned me because of the other. And I got no respect for either of them. If phil got permabanned to me that would be a divorce made in heaven. The thing I find funny with this snowflake campaign against phil is as follows. The people spearheading it are mostly someone with a name or persona that is a derivative of his name or persona. A parody of phil if you will. And some of these characters even have twitch accounts and stream themselves. If successful and they manage to disenfranchise phil. There will be a blowback of epic proportions. To me it almost look like a suicide run. You can't capitalize on phil and ruin him at the same time. it's M.A.D. The new Twich TOS assures that behavior outside of twitch also is a factor. And even though the harrasment of phil is funny. I have a feeling that they will sanitize not only phil, but people that parody him as well.
If they don't allow his normal life I don't think they will make an exception for his secret life. Or a parody of his life. I think even the TXT version will have an issue.

I think a misconception is that I try to defend phil, Honestly I wish i just could shut up about it. But i find it so ridiculous that I can't help myself. That campaign against him is maybe the stupidest idea from a detractor ever. I hope for secret life and the other parties involved that it fails. If it actually lights the fuse. I imagine it to be a scene from Goutrunner and Wil-e coyote.

I think it is more of an awareness campaign than anything. We all know Twitch won’t go after their favorite little pig. This dude has fans that drop $1000 in clips so they can cheer $500. Twitch makes bank on these idiots and if the king idiot is gone all the peasants with money go with him.

I would view it as an achievement if they managed to make a living out of mocking phil. And I am sure some people would if they had the opportunity. Hell if you guys pay me 2000€ a month, I would mock phil fulltime.

That was always a head scratcher for me. DSP shits on detractors and calls them low-life scum, no-life nerds, toxic, etc. But it's like "so?" The way DSP handles the people making fun of him is like that weird kid in school that would say "people pick on me because they're jealous that I'm smart/handsome/whatever" and completely believe it. DSP used to often say that detractors were jealous of his success, but now that the gravy train is drying up he has dropped saying that.

I honestly believe that for a lot of "detractors" who make videos and montages and retweet shit it's a hobby. There's a community of people who are united in that they all think shitting on DSP is fun. The whole SoK shitstorm kinda ruined things a bit, but I don't think any "detractor" is automatically a failure at life unless information comes out that a detractor is some 45 year old man who lives with his elderly mother and has never held a job.

There's plenty of average Joe Six Packs who troll online and plenty who make shitty youtube videos.

If you watch the old "Whats my deal with DSP" from Tevin where he talks about how he became a "detractor" he talks about how he made his first TIHYDP because he was messing around with video editing and wanted to give it a shot.

I'm betting a bunch of people are either using it to hone their skills, or just because they enjoy video editing.

Snort and Memology in particular seem like it's a fairly serious hobby that they have to enjoy.

Eh, I mean he's been at it for years and I don't think that's his primary source of income. If I had a hobby that popular I'd probably monetize it too. I don't really see what's skeevy about it. Petty? Sure. I don't see a moral issue though.
