The EmuParadise thread was essentially just a giant honeypot. People were getting vanned left and right for even something as simple as admitting they downloaded something like Mother 3 off it way back in the day.

It's great because there are a lot of games where "piracy" is the only real option people have to play them. Games like the aforementioned Mother 3 and Ace Attorney Investigations 2 were never localized officially or sold anywhere outside of Japan and collectors/scalpers have made purchasing games from a mere 2 generations ago impossible to all but people with the deepest wallets and in many cases it's the only way to play them because they were never re-released in any capacity.

ReetardERA is supposed to be a site for gamers made by gamers but instead it adopts a corporate-dicksuck moderation policy because it still believes and hopes people/companies outside of it take it seriously (much like how NeoFag was back in the day (see: E3 passes controversy)). It leads to this bizarre-ass standard where screaming at a game developer for 50 pages because he dared to point out the site has a tendency to scream at people far too often or trying to boycott a company for firing a literal prostitute or wishing death on a man whose been working at a company for 22 years over wrongthink is acceptable but mentioning in passing that you once downloaded a game that you could only get secondhand anyways thus costing a company literally nothing is ban-worthy.
