So right now in Seattle a man supposedly stole a plane from SeaTac International Airport, all flights in the area are grounded and air traffic control is in contact with him trying to teach him mid-flight how to land the plane. The most interesting part of this is the hijacker has been threatening to do a barrel roll.

A plume of smoke was reported near Ketron Island, Washington, after authorities received reports that a plane was stolen from Seattle Airport Friday night, according to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).

Petty Officer Ali Flockerzi said one of the USCG's 45-foot rescue boats was headed to the scene.

The island is between Tacoma and Olympia, she said.

It wasn't clear what kind of plane was involved or whether or not passengers were on board.

Alaska Airlines tweeted, "We are aware of an incident involving an unauthorized take-off of a Horizon Air Q400. We believe there are no passengers on board. More information as we learn more."

The stolen plane reports were received about 8:30 p.m. PDT, and the plume was reported about 15 minutes later, Flockerzi said.

We are aware of an incident involving an unauthorized take-off of a Horizon Air Q400. We believe there are no passengers on board. More information as we learn more.

Edit: two fighter jets might have shot the plane down.

very inspirational figure for these dark times

^Great. Now 9/11 was just an accident. And those poor oppressed brown people who "borrowed" all of those fully fueled and crewed planes actually had formal flight training.

An aileron roll is not a barrel roll.
I can't explain these feeling coming through me.
I mocked the nigger from last week for trying to fly a plane to see some shitty concert.
This guy is different, I can't explain why I feel for him, why I hope he's in a better place now.
God speed, you crazy bastard.
This guy actually got the plane in the air. He was not going in blind thinking that there was a switch or button than made the airplane fly.

I mean... that's got to be satire. Doesn't it? Doesn't it?‽

Apparently not. Local radio is calling him a terrorist, and they're refusing to say his name because they don't want to give him what they think he wanted, which was criminal recognition.

Ironically enough this in an of itself is a prime example of the sort of thing Sky King was upset about. Corporations and sneering middle management types going "lol you're just a working class peon which must mean you're poor and stupid, get thee hence peasant and know your place!"
You're even seeing this in news articles right now. They're asking "how the fuck did he do this", forgetting that you can buy very realistic simulations of the Q400 for FSX or X-Plane.

He could have killed hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people and did "9/11 - West Coast Edition" but instead he just wanted to do barrel rolls.

It sounds like he says "Andrew," to me anyway. I was chalking up my point as the "whisper sweet nothings in my ear."
Personally, I'd tell jokes to ATC.

"FUCK MAN IM SO SCREWED UP FROM WORKING AT THAT PESKY AIRPORT, I THINK I HAVE A TERMINAL ILLNESS."

Also, why is everyone freaking out about "HOW DID THIS COMMON MAN LEARN TO CONTROL AN AIRCRAFT??"
Has no one heard of x-plane? Theres a bunch of videos on how to fly this specific aircraft in xp11.
Maybe it's just me, but I've been fascinated with planes since I was a child, and I fucking love flying around in xp. Not a fan of commercial flying, but it's pretty rad to be able to come home from work and fly a 787 around the rockies for an hour or two while I get stoned.

Sure it's not the same as sitting in a cockpit, but if you master some key concepts I'd bet you could easily takeoff and cruise for a while in just about any aircraft.

I have enough hours in flight sims I could probably taxi, take off and fly a few WW2 era planes. Doubt I could land one safely though.
