Worth noting, a 300 post count blockade against new posters is extremely unusual.

A lot of forums give trial periods for new members, usually within 30-100 posts. During this time moderators are usually treating newbs with a grain of salt, since an issue raised because of a newblet is either someone who isn't really familiar with the rules or prevailing attitudes of the forum or who are just trying to be dicks, and which a given user is going to be will, traditionally, make themselves known in short order. This is how it was done on NeoGAF prior to the infestation hitting critical mass.

On ResetERA, the only similarity to the above is the presence of a post count to end newb status, and the paradigm is reversed. There's a very high post count for newblet status to end because the Mods' duty is to ensure party line adherence. While NeoGAF did it to try to help the newbs acclimate and skim the would-be trolls out, ResetERA does it because they want an excuse to ban absolutely everyone who looks like they may develop critical thinking skills and/or has the presence of mind to question anything about the narrative.

It's very similar to what certain employers do with squirreling away some tiny clause in the middle of a gigantic rule handbook about how they can fire you at any time without consequence within the first six months of your hiring, only it's done solely for ideological conformity.

Junior membership is not a trial period, a lot of veteran users (at least on neofag) were kicked back to junior status after done something stupid (I mean, stupid by the definition of the moderation, like saying "fuck" too much).

Personally I don't consider the post count too extreme; you're only making 3-4 posts a day(no length minimum) over a 90-day period to clear both Junior Account criteria. The trick is that even if you followed the regimen, being a senior member affords you zero protection from any wrongthink. Unless you're a troon you can be banned quickly & permanently with almost no build-up or warning. A few pages back we had a genuine(no double agent), year long, 2,000+ post user die in 4 moderator messages.
