Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The thing with the droid seems like no one had an idea what to do with their character. It would be funny as a one-note joke, but then they tried to make the droid into a serious character/Lando's love interest? And it's kind of weird they didn't put in IG-88 somehow, since given the movie's focus on crime, "droid rights", and Star Wars fanservice/random namedropping, you might as well throw in everyone's favorite droid bounty hunter who wants to mass murder all non-droids. Would've made way more sense than Darth Maul, since if you've never seen Rebels or whatever, Darth Maul is dead, while IG-88 will later be one of the bounty hunters sent out to capture Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back.
IG-88 would've honestly been a way better villain/character in Solo. A shame that didn't happen. And yeah its weird that a movie about Solo fanservice and random namedropping hardly mentioned any of the bounty hunters from ESB, not even as cameos. In fact when I first saw Solo I though Boba Fett was in the movie, but then later I found it was this guy:
NEuYQrMMHMQvzw_1_1.jpg

I mentioned him before a few pages back. His name is Tam Posla who was created to serve as a "non-evil" and more progressive replacement of Boba Fett. Much like Fett, he's a bounty hunter with a similar helmet but with a shittier visor who does the same pose and wields similar weapons to Fett, the only difference is he's a gay black former policeman turned cyborg who is in a "beautiful" relationship with the prettiest boy you ever did see... Can't get more progressive than that (does he just stick his robot dick in the freak's crotch brain?) Seriously, its a Han Solo movie, you could at least have Boba somewhere in the background without needing to interact with Han. Is there some kind of weird rules they're restricted by that they had to replace Boba with this shitty donut steal? Or do they just want to replace all the characters with shitty duplicates for some weird reason?
I thought "Savage Opress" was a shitty fanfiction character until I noticed he had a Wookieepedia article.
If only.
And then they made the Darth Maul story even dumber by having him become a crime lord (and shoehorned it into Solo for who knows what reason).
For nostalgia bucks. Gotta shoehorn in as many cameos as possible to make sure their shitty movies makes the big bucks (which Solo didn't even really need), which is ironic considering how non-existent the nostalgia will be in Disney's SW theme park. Seriously, Enfys Nest and Maul were the most unneeded things in Solo. If not for them, Han's gf and Lando's presence and characterization (he honestly didn't even need to appear yet, and should've saved him for the sequel and have the movie end with Han and Chewie wanting to get a new ship, but I guess they wanted Falcon notalgia too) I would honestly give the movie more praise.

More of this "woke enlightened male feminist/film critic says this movie is flawless cause feminism and all that shit".

I kinda love how these hipsters think only "gross white male nerds" dislike this movie, and never take into account the voices of women (this film is peppered with faux feminism) and racial minorities (all the POC characters are turned into fools or are submissive to the white characters) who also disliked this film.
These fuckers didn't learn a thing from #NotYourShield

Okay I'm going to be that guy (oh who am I kidding, I'm always that guy) and ask if its really nessesary to keep banging the "Star Wars Is Dead" drum because honestly I think a lot of people here over react too much. Sure Star Wars is in a bit of a rut at the moment but so have other big name, long running sci fi franchises (Doctor Who, Star Trek, etc) and it can get out of that rut at some point. Star Wars isint dead, wounded maybe, but dead I think is just going too far

A rut? We're long past a rut, the prequels were a rut, a shit ton of the Old EU was a rut, TFA was a rut, the Marvel comics are a rut, the mobile games are a rut, Dice Bsttlefronts are a rut, TLJ was a rut, Rebels was rut, Filoni Clone Wars are a rut in large parts, Rogue One and Solo were a rut. I'm not trying to sound pissed off or condescending but what would it take for you to say it's worse than a rut?
Heck the only thing that good or close enough are the Rpgs and those are inferior to the d20 one that cane before

Disney bought the rights to SW and 4 movies into their "We'll release annual movies till the end of time" plan, it falls apart and their 4bn dollar franchise hangs on life support with every spin-off movie being shitcanned. If IX truly bombs the way it deserves, where is Disney going to go with this? What else would need to happen that you can consider it dead?

I doubt anyone questiones that SW will reemerge at some point, it is a way too important cultural asset with far too much recognizability, however that will be more like a rebirth than anything, especially since I feel it will need to happen under completely different people running the show. As long as Kennedy and her cronies are in charge of SW, I assume all the disgruntled and disillusioned fans to just stay away. Or at least that's what I hope will happen.

The prequels were mocked a lot and pissed a few people off with their wonky writing, but at least the EU was still around and I assume it was going strong. Woke Wars doesn't even have that, since they threw out the old canon and replaced it with terrible hack writing that I can hardly see appeal to the core fanbase. Do we know how well these new books are selling? Wouldn't surprise me, if they had problems on that front, too.
Either way, if IX bombs and the movies go on hold, Cuck Wendig releasing terrible fanfiction isn't enough to call this franchise anything but dead.

PS: I think the consensus around here is that TLJ killed the new trilogy (and let's be honest, it is a soulless corpse of what used to be Star Wars) and that IX is the breaking point for the franchise. If that fails as hard as TLJ, it will be the thing to kill the franchise.

Star Wars is pretty much dead to me, and has been for a long time. There's now only two things it can do in Episode IX which might rekindle my interest:

1) "You Rebel scum really believed we were building another Death Star?"

2) "Bad news. The company that builds Y-Wings is refusing to extend us credit. He said something about ruining his son's wedding party with a stampede. Anybody know anything about that?"

Oh, my goodness. Have I got a treat in store for this thread! Jonathan MacIntosh has now weighed in!....

tldw; - Toxic white masculinity everywhere, all the time. But I'm guessing you figured that. Kind of impressive that such a Johnny One Note gets $5,395 per video now, though.

80K views and 10,000 likes in just one day? Either people are really butthurt about the hackfrauds or there's something fishy going on. Also fuck me, half the comments are asking why the guy didn't mention how beautiful Reylo was and how it truly defied expectations. Fuck Shipperfags.

I have 2 hypothetical questions for this thread.
Suppose IX turns out to be really good and somehow redeems the this trilogy, how would you react?
What do you think Disney will do with SW from that point forward?

With incredulous disbelief that they finally made MaRey Sue a believable and charismatic character and that they actually disembowelled Rose with a Lightsaber chainsaw on screen.

As for what they'd do after? What Disney always does. Fuck it into the ground until it stops making money.

Meh, I haven't liked so far the trilogy, i guess i'll just shrug and move on.
Franchise it out on the parks. I'm awaiting for the Poe and Finn characters to start walking around the parks any day now...

I'd be into it, no question. Don't think it will happen, don't see HOW it could happen given how they've painted themselves into the corner with EP VIII, but, yeah. But if Jar Jar Abrams pulls off some kind of miracle, I'd be happy.

Even if everyone on the planet is turning cartwheels over EP IX I personally won't see it opening weekend, though.

I have no real idea. The scary part being that I don't think the Story Group does, either.

If I had to guess, I'd suggest they'll try something with a bit more youth appeal, given that they're building two Star Wars themed amusement areas in both Florida and California.

1: I'd take a nice romp through Hell, as its newly frosty climate would appeal to me.
2: Probably immediately fuck it up again.

Jar Jar Abrams is a shit director with no creativity. I'll eat all the hats I own if EPIX turns out even halfway decent. I know it won't because it has Rey Sue and Rose Kamikaze Tico in it.
