He only brought up Vinyl and Octavia because those two are being heavily pushed by Hasbro through this film for merchandising purposes, not because they're actually shown in any kind of lesbian context like the actual characters shown in lesbian context.

For reference, the thing that he's talking about:

Chris missed this.

Chris has great taste in ponies
10/10 would watch mlp with
I love how his review is so positive, we haven't seen that from him in a while .-.
Doesn't Chris normally give positive reviews about mlp seems the only thing he is giving bad reviews to at the moment is sonic boom

Equestria Girls is a MLP spin-off that takes place in an alternate universe where almost every pony in Equestria has a "human" (not actually human) alternate.
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the show? The main draw of the franchise is them being magical talking horses, why would you take that away and make them high schoolers.

It's like making a Spin Off of He Man where he works in an office.

I meant that it's nice to see something positive from him in general. No asking for money or whining about eBay. Just a happy little review .-.

Because Hasbro is using EqG as a means to fight Mattel in the fashion doll market, specifically against Monster High, by utilizing the popularity of the pony show.

Plus, He-Man in an office? Wasn't that the point of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law?

Since I'm involved with bronies, I know way too much about this individual airing of the movie. It was in theaters a few weeks ago, and Chris could have easily seen it. Hell, he would have blended in pretty well, but it was only in select theaters, so he probably didn't put out the effort to find a theater.
Also, the movie on tv had a lot of stuff cut from the full version to fit in the screen time. It's very much possible that the heavy LyraxBonbon shipping was removed for time reasons (or to not piss off parents).
Also also Discovery Family (used to be known as The Hub) is something like channel number 400, so Chris must have some ridiculous level of cable package.

Soooo out of the whole movie the only part he actually seems to care about is the part with the background characters. Also, the way he worded that post seems rather....exceptional to me, like his English here just seems kind of broken.

Knowing Chris, he most likely saw a bootleged video recording as that was the cheapest option. They're numerous on youtube since as long as nobody from Hasbro reports them, they can remain hidden. Of course, they're also not that hard to find if you know where to look for the links.

Forget it Gothicserpent, it's Autismtown.
Apparently ponies don't sell to a certain age demographic. They want humans, but not actual humans. It's very weird. Especially considering it's now doing better than the competitor that it ripped off. Strange world.

I'd say Chris' opinions on the males of MLP would be interesting, but I'd assume he only has one word to describe them: JERKS.

Because the doll market is huge. Barbie has always been big and now there's Bratz and Monster High which are obviously profitable enough that Hasbro wanted a piece of that pie too. Because starting a new line from scratch is risky, Hasbro decided to take the safer route by taking an existing franchise with existing characters and tweaking it to fit the mold.

Octavia? Lyra? Bonbon? The only thing I know about MLP is whatever I overhear from my 10 year old sister and I have never heard any of those names...are they exclusive to EqG? Or am I just fucking pony illiterate, unlike the rest of you weens apparently?

They aren't major characters who are ever named in the show, but unique background designs that the fandom latched onto, and only two of them have toys by those names ("Bon Bon" is the unofficial name for "Sweetie Drops"). If your sister doesn't collect the toys, you wouldn't have heard those names.

I have no idea about which pastel coloured pony is which, why them fucking each other is important and why the pastel coloured ponies are now pastel coloured people (besides from an attempt to make Rule 34 of the show slightly less weird)
