Guys Chris seems to really suffer when Barb schreeches at him to sell his stuff, so it might do him some good if nobody buys Chris's stuff. That way Barb will stop pestering Chris once she realises that nobody buys his things, but as long as people keep buying from Chris, she'll keep bothering Chris.

So all you Smart Individuals like @Depression_Begins that like buying Chris-chan's garbage.

Chris loves the extra income from his sales. It's just he perceives his sales as money he has earned from his effort to list/ship the item and the value his infamy adds to it. Barb would have been lucky to get $20 for her blankets at a yard sale, Chris sold one for 10 times that. The tugboats were suppose to pay their day to day living expenses, now the extra cash on the side Chris thought he could enjoy is being chipped away.

Looking back, I think Chris began selling Barb autographs and merch as a way to show her it wouldn't be worth as much as his. Which kind of backfired since some items did sell. Though still a win-win for the Chandlers.

Well the thread seems to be questioning Chris' morality when it comes to getting money from fans. Just stating it would have been immoral to keep the donation and not attend Bronycon to spend time with Jack. Chris honored his donation pledge.

And while Barb probably did have some unexpected bills come up for essentials like dental care, both her and Chris are given modest incomes to live on. And judging by the growing size of the horde and her known debts, I'd guess Barb often masks her credit card debt as other things to Chris.



The impact of Barb's shopping addiction can be seen all the way back in Sonichu issue 0. When Rosechu is shown as buying excessive amounts of clothing on a supposed $100 budget while Sonichu carries her bags helplessly.

More and more, though, I suspect Chris believes that when her income eventually disappears he'll be able to replace it with e-bay sales - which might actually be true in a good month - but it will also mean that more of the income he regards as "his" to be spent on luxuries will need to go towards living costs.

Barb is a net financial loss for Chris. He pays much of their expenses from his own income and whatever she pays by herself (if anything) is more than outweighed by what she garnishes from him. When she dies, his net income will probably go up. She is an absolute cancer on him.
