This popped up on my feed just now. Didn't know this random account was SJW. I just liked the blog name.

As long as the themes and story structure remains intact, and the actors do a fine job portraying the characters, it really shouldn't matter what race / color they are. Also, I'd be more worried about them not totally fucking up the adaptation (if it even makes it out of development hell) than whether or not an actor is Pro/Anti something.
They probably don't care about any of that since they think it's just appropriating some anime and by casting a non-Japanese person as a Japanese character, it will be racist to them, regardless of what most of the Japanese fans would think (I'm sure they'd despise the movie if it were terrible, ethnicity of actors notwithstanding). There is also questioning the SJW's that would complain, if they are in anyway familiar with the themes, structure, and characters of Ghost in the Shell. If they are familiar with the ethnicity of any character despite the racial origin of said characters name (though I'm not familiar with the anime, are there any characters that are half-Japanese? Any with a foreign name that isn't native to Japan?)

My knowledge of GitS is, admittedly, kinda rusty, but as far as I can tell, just about every member of Section 9 is Japanese, with the story predominantly taking place in Japan. GitS doesn't deal with race so much as it deals with what degree is human, cyborg, and machine, with every member of Section 9 being varying degrees of cyborgs, from limited cybernetic implants and being practically human (Togusa in SAC) to noticable prosthetics (Batou has prosthetic eyes, Saito has one prosthetic eye and a prosthetic arm), to full-body prosthesis that blurs the line between human and machine (Kusanagi).

What? Why? Because it's about a Japanese child and his adorable poofy robot?
Nah, apparently the whole cast is supposed to be Japanese, but Disney changed 3 of the heroes into a black man and 2 white people and something about the setting being Americanized.

I can pretty much guarantee they'll all go see it anyway.

Isn't the setting taking place in a city that's a fusion of Tokyo and some American city?

It's not the casting we should be pissed at, it's the fact that Hollywood is gonna ruin another anime. Have we learned nothing from Dragonball Evolution?
I think Dragonball Evolution is the only Anime adaptation to get through in Hollywood. Evangelion has been slated for one for a decade now and there was serious talk about a Akira two-parter at the beginning of the decade with Kristen Stewart. I wouldn't sweat it, since most of them get put in development hell or outright cancelled.

Oh, tumblr-SJWs are just fine with one of the characters being black. It's the ones that are white they have the problem with.

Shocker, I know.

WE SPEAK NOT OF HOLLYWOOD'S AKIRA, FOR IT IS FILTHY. [/crosses heart and spits on ground]

Seriously, even George Takei hated the script.

Pardon the off-topic but I think this is the first anime movie adaption where they try to pick someone with a hint of talent.

Rock-candy for a dragon-kin? It seems like a lot of them use "kin-diets" to justify eating really unhealthy things. Like the demon-kin who ate cottoncandy with poprocks as a substitute for souls.

Hrmm.

Actually...

Guys, I'm a elemental-vampire demonkin, okay? I mainly fed on ice-elementals in my previous life, okay? Thankfully, ice-elemental blood is a lot like ice-cream. Caramel and praline ice cream to be exact.

Not only that, they are segregating asian products from the rest of the marketplace, so that means they are literally worse than the Apartheid.
We can't let products from different cultures intermingle, shitlord! Cultural appropriation! Ugh!!!
