You’re thinking like a reasonable person. Jake thinks emotional parasitism is the same as friendship, and that he can basically demand people’s time and energy because he has more oppression points.

My wild guess is that he got in touch with a journalist but they wanted some sort of contact other than just taking the word of an anonymous Twitter account at face value, and the whole thing fell apart.
