It's really easy to have a kneejerk disagreement to this but I'm 100% with you there. The problem with political messages in video games is only that they're usually shockingly hamfisted. If your best attempt at making a statement about society is just to make the good guys in your game an ensemble of various ethnic and sexual minorities and the baddies all conspicuously white, you might just be a hack who can't write an interesting story or characters without resorting to trashy exploitative bullshit.Games should be political.
Of course, its just like literature or film, entertainment is the priority.
Heck, an sjw game could be a good game and just have a message to disagree with, nothing wrong with it as long as the game stands as good.
This is why I adore Spec Ops: The Line since no matter what your opinion on the actual game is, people are still talking about its message to this day. And the developers meant it that way; they wanted debate and they wanted to have people disagree with its message and ask themselves why they disagree with it. It also helps that its a much more smartly written game than most AAA games on the market. Not to mention, the game is full of subtleties you might not get on your second or even third playthrough so there is a lot to chew on.It's really easy to have a kneejerk disagreement to this but I'm 100% with you there. I really hate that there's almost nothing in game stories that's worth thinking about after you've finished playing it, you have people praising crappy third person action games with obnoxious walky-talky sections for their (comparatively to examples from other forms of media) paper-thin story and characters. You have the odd stand-out of course, but I can't overstate how few and far between those are.
Is DR3 the one where they try to go meta? That's the rumor i heard, oh and they fucked up in ending the story of the characters in the games (i think it doesn't include despair girls but i could be wrong) they set up pre 3, the true end of the story for these characters? It's IN A FUCKING ANIME andShould i spoil you about if Junko is really in DR V3?SHE BACK AFTER
Any particular reason why?
Well fuck- If she pops up again, I’ll probably go into an screeching rant for two seconds and then move on with my life. I’m liking what little I’ve seen of V3’s cast but if the plot is going where I think it’s going, I’m going to be very disappointed.
At least one thing I can give Hunger Games credit for is that it didn’t chicken out with the character deaths or the nature of the killing game.
That's just the beginning tho...I found it a lot more interesting how Fallout 3 starts you out in the vault, and you learn game mechanics while growing up and adapting to life inside the vault. I liked that a lot more than "well you got shot, but I fixed you up, so go do wasteland stuff".
1. Cosplay 2. Take things with a grain of salt
I'm honestly a little sad they went away after the sixth generation of consoles. I grew up playing them on handhelds, so even now I still love the idea of playing turn-based RPGs on a system and TV.I like turn based rpgs. I have no idea why everyone including the gaming industry decided they suck.

I just enjoyed the "Vault Dweller leaves the safety of the vault to experience the wasteland he had only heard about" premise more than the "you already knew about the wasteland but now you're in Vegas" premise. That's just the beginning tho...
I think walking simulators are great, it's a style I enjoy and Gone Home was a good game. Firewatch was better though, that and Shardlight were the only two games I really played in 2016.
I dont think it has been, though, since TTG just laid off a boatload of its staff and might be shutting down.I've seen some people complain about Telltale Games lately, but I'll be the first one to admit I stopped following them after they started making glorified visual novels instead of traditional adventure games.
Good on them if it makes them money though.
