I worked briefly in a small casino in Pillockville with a games machine arcade and by god you treated the whales well on pain of shouting from management. Any non-alcoholic drinks? On the house. Tea? Coffee? On the house. Could we take their dinner orders so they didn't have to go queue up at the bar like everyone else? "Of course Mary, what do you fancy? We've got steak pie in."

Because they stay at the machine they keep putting cash in.

It's also not just them. They create an environment of enthusiasm. Other people throw around money, too. This applies just as equally in the comic books or any other business with a social element to it. The whales are the people who talk enthusiastically about the product to their friends, they're the people who get asked what's currently good and worth buying, etc.

I've seen businesses accidentally piss off the core element of their business before. That's just stupidity. I have never seen anything quite like the SJW plague that actively seeks out and deliberately shits all over their core customers.

I'm not the biggest fan of PaulsEgo, but he coined a term that I think perfectly sums up this type of behavior: "Someone-Oughta Badass". Those are the types of folks that constantly posture about their political stances but when it comes down to actually going out and doing shit, they're not to keen on getting involved physically. Their protests can be boiled down to simply, "Somebody oughta kick that dude's ass!". It's like slackivism, but with much more false bravado.

Honestly CG can’t damage anyone’s career. Sure it might be a bit harder to get into the bigger companies for the ones that revealed their names and faces, but the anonymity most CG spergs benefit from protects them from such things. Some CG spergs might even be industry Pros on alt accounts. It’s a possibility, I can’t conclusively say there aren’t and I can’t conclusively say there are. Anyone can use the # or be supportive of CG and its goals.

Ren and the rest are just trying to scare the more guilible ones into thinking they can and will be blacklisted from the industry just for being associated to the #. But look at how that’s worked for the “Blacklisted”, all IGG project meet and exceed goals, people that CG feels are being unfairly treated are defended, anyone that’s being harassed by an outrage mob for dumb shit like not using block bots is supported financially. The threats of being blacklisted stop being threatening when you’re rewarded with instant financial backing if you make a decent looking product.
