But I don't think that necessarily disproves their argument. They have long hair because that's part of the social construct of being a woman. Saying 'gender is a social construct, and that's bad' is considered a TERF thing to say.

If we are talking about real transgenders (rather than transtrenders) going for very gender conforming style does seem to depend partly how well they pass. If they pass well then I have noticed variety of styles just like cispeople. If they don’t pass then they tend to go for very gendered clothes, witch honestly makes sense. If you don’t want be missgendedred or want to be taken as member of chosen gender, you have to communicate it nonverbaly. Passing trans and us cissys simply have more leave way.
