I don’t think Phil’s issue is he can’t seem to adjust or he can’t learn to live with it. In fact, I don’t think a lot of times he has issues with latency at all.

I think Phil complains about latency because he knows it is an excuse that others have used in the past, and he knows that nobody else can say for certain whether or not he’s lying because it’s something only the player can say is happening for sure.

Edit: also, for anyone interested in seeing Phil and his super bait to get dem trolls, Tevin posted a video on the subject.

Now Bobbi_Ling's in Phil's chat again

Bobbi Ling is back but 100% does not like Phil any more. Just makes fun of him at this point.

He banned NewFaceOfCreation for saying that, no less

Timed for 10 minutes. A shitload of other people, though, got the boot, including at least one person who was gifted by a sub today.

I hope Phil dresses up as a job application for halloween.

wonder what phils resume would look like, probably him gloating about his internet presence "i had 20m followers! 1st at evo! i created a positive environment for 10 yrs and never bitched, begged, or hated! i was a perfect internet famous person and was amazing"

my imagination is going further and thinking about the interviewer "so why are you applying for this job then?" and phil just sitting there speechless with his jaw dropped trying to come up with a reasonable lie, like detractors fucked me or something

For anyone who doesn’t play fighters and might not know better, 95% of Daves complaints playing online are bullshit.

There's always going to be some sort of delay online, but it’s not to the degree that he exaggerates. He uses the same excuses for every fighting game online; lag, I was blocking, doesn’t read my inputs right.

These are all user error, every single one, it’s not some conspiracy by other fighting game streamers like the pig would have you believe, it’s just not really an issue.

Daves lag is either him having a snitty Internet connection he thinks is good, a lie he keeps telling, or in his head. I’m going with the in his head one, because the dudes reactions are just not there anymore, he reacts to shit so slow, I’m also pretty sure he’s blind as a bat and can’t see shit on the tv, he constantly complains about not being able to read shit on the screen that’s not even far away, and his constant squinting and leaning in

TLDR he’s an aging man who would rather blame a video game than himself

Doesn't he use a beat to hell 3rd party gamestick too?

I'm relatively new so I can't speak confidently about those times.

It's definitely before he moved right? Cause he has no IRL friends in WA and he's terrified of the scene?
Yes, it is from his last days in CT, the only people he had over there, not being there to work, are Leanna and Kat.

What's most damning about Phil's excuses is that his online complaints overlap with offline complaints. He consistently blames input drops in any game that requires mechanical precision; if he's online he blames the netcode and if he's offline he'll blame Bluetooth protocol or some other equivalent. He also makes accusations that are absurd because they're impossible to prove (AI is "reading the input buffer").

Netcode that performs well on connections of variable quality is hellaciously difficult to implement and optimize, and companies have very little reason to devote extensive R&D and finances to create pristine netcode, especially because it'd cost even more to maintain. The changes won't be salient to the majority of their consumer pool (not to mention most will not consistently play online >≈ 1 month after release) and professionals still will use offline communities for serious practice.

The reason why other streamers don't complain as consistently about the netcode is because they realize what it's there for -- casual fun or practice in the abstract of fundamentals and MUs. They're there to entertain their viewers and play as well as they can within the constraints of online battles, not idly rant about naive, vacuum scenarios. Of course, Phil likely internally knows this as well, but chooses to conveniently exploit it as rant material to increase viewer interest (negative or positive) and rationalize his mechanical failures.

I feel like if you're an average player at a game, LAG only really impacts you when it becomes incredibly choppy. You can still perform well with minor amounts. I think phil's narcissism just prevents him from playing without crying about lag cause it's an easy scapegoat. Also the average fighting game player has improved a lot since SF4.

Thing is, I don't play fighting games, so I can't say flat out he's lying. But I occasionally watch Maximillian and I haven't heard him complain nearly as much as Dave. Max is constantly the gentleman, never seems to tilt and understands that while a game might have a bit of lag or dropped frames, it's for both players not just him. The difference in attitude is genuinely shocking. It's the actual difference between a professional and try-hard.

So while I kinda believe some of the things he brings up. I can't help but think it's primarily lack of skill and understanding of each games basic mechanics that does him in.

Good luck @thebonesauce, sitting through him playing a fighting game these last few years is like a test of endurance.

He said Killer Instinct had great netcode too. He still bitched, bitched that the game ran too fast for his brain to process (serious), and still dropped it as soon as he could. He never even played seasons 2 and 3 of the game.

Also, all of the other fighting game streamers aside from Low Tier God for obvious reasons doesn't bitch about netcode nearly as much as Phil. Aris from Avoiding the Puddle is like Phil in some ways but funnier and self-aware. He will complain about the netcode but make that funny.

Phil needs to seriously get his shit together. Only a couple of days ago at most, he tweeted about how Red Dead 2 can bring a surge of viewers and money. Now on tonight's stream he talks about not playing it on both streams as the audience will get bored. Which is it Phil, is it an opportunity or something people will get bored with? Or better question, which is it to you; an opportunity to make money which you desperately need, or just something to play?

He once said if he ever had to go for a job interview he would let the interviewer know about his large negative internet footprint created by those damn dirty detractors. Everyone here is sick to death of his "I started making videos 10 years ago" speech but imagining it in the context of a job interview does breath some hilarity back into it.

Oh boy this hot twitter quote got me thinkin
“I’ve never done a damn thing bad to anyone”

Let’s play a game, give me your personal favorite example or quote that comes to mind to counter this.

Mine would have to be that stream and what he said about Ijustine in the chat, classic toxic dave. A close second is when he insulted that streamer that got him suspended and when he told his fans to spam that mortal kombat players inbox

Speaking of Twitter, his hot timeline is totally worth reading, I can't believe he won't get thousand of people reacting to it, it's the most exciting read there is. Totally worth following him, yeah. I hope you got my sarcasm.

Probably all the times he's insulted his parents and treated them as nothing more than workers. Didn't his dad have to clean out Phil's gutters because Phil "couldn't" do it? I know they painted some rooms and unclogged the toilet for him, too.

The time he went off on the bloke who called him a pussy for complaining about making his own meals. He'd lost his Brother pretty recently I think and he called Phil out. How did Phil respond? Tried calling the bloke out for some reason, claimed he didn't believe him about his dead brother, and essentially called him a troll. It was without doubt the purest example of Phil being a cunt.

Can't forget the birthday stream either where he went on a 20 minute rant about John, Howard and Panda. Bought up her anxiety and panic attack as a personal hindrance.

Scum.

Original Project 7 video he called AVGN and Nostalgia Critic "2 fags".

Friend request ridicule videos.

Waking up sick Leanna to tell her to make him dinner.

And the most hurtful thing he has ever said: telling whoever the person was who contacted his school to go get electroshock therapy for their obvious mental illness.
