The Creepypasta Fandom

I'm a fan of creepypasta because I'm a fan of the horror genre. That's about the extent of it. It's sorta like saying "How could someone like anime?". It's all animation, just different genres.

Also, happy birthday, Oglooger.
I guess. Just seems like there's not enough meat there for something to take off, but whatever. At least it's not Thomas the Tank Engine and Sonic recolors.

I read the entire thread and nobody mentioned the NES Godzilla Pasta? I quite like it. It's very long and ramble but it's masterfully written. It can evoke feelings of wonder, fear, and strangely, peace. It's also got some decently-shopped photos to help with the tone. It's not "LOL BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD" everywhere. I'm not a big horror fan because blood in general (even obviously fake blood in shitty old horror movies) makes me cringe so this might be my inexperience with the horror genre talking, but it's at least worth a sitting, in my opinion.

Too bad most of the creepy pasta fandom ignores it. Probably because the main monster isn't really humanoid or has a tragic past.

I also kinda wrote part 1 of a pasta but I didn't finish it because I couldn't think up a climatic showdown for the life of me. The pasta was about the protagonist playing a Sonic game as a kid, being utterly traumatized by it to the point to where they repressed the memory and buried it in the backyard. Later on the protagonist remembered not finishing the game for some reason because they got a horrible feeling about it but they associated this feeling with being childish and wanted to overcome this feeling. The game was actually haunted/cursed and the protagonist had to have a showdown with a boss.

If any of you are looking for more bad creepypasta dramatic readings, here's a treasure trove by Retsupurae's very own Slowbeef.

<-- Sonic.exe, mentioned earlier in the thread.
<-- A really dumb Mario story with SPOOOKY backwards names!
<-- The BLOOD WHISTLE!! It's an hour long, but arguably the shittiest try hard story he's read so far.
<-- Shitty Mega Man story, "The Yellow Devil!"
<--- Yet another shitty Mega Man story, someone dies or something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjkquaIoYQU <--- Anooother Mega Man one, with by far the weirdest ending.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO9tSJR1Zvc <-- 0bl1v10n.exe, my personal favorite.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmITolSZ7iw <-- "Is this the same motherfucker who wrote Blood Whistle?" -Youtube Commentor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcQIEZG-RXQ <-- A short Cooking Mama story that really doesn't even try.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIaNHVDC2jk <-- Should be titled "My autistic hate boner for Amy Rose."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXsIZN0olKk <-- A Toy Story recolor with haunted Nintendo toys or something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWNO9RaD_eU <-- Another Oblivion one, pretty short and (of course) stupid.

Excuse me? We at the CPW acknowledge NESGC as a great example of a gamepasta done right, and use it often as a guide for new writers.

Since we're all talking about our favorite creepypastas...I quite like the Josef K. stories, and stories on Reddit's /nosleep board. Some other creepy stories I like are the highly rated, yet less known ones such as "Knocking" and "World's Best School Psychologist."

Since Halloween is tomorrow, I thought I could do something a little special.

You know Creepypastas, right? Those scary stories from the Internet like Slenderman or Ben Drowned? Well, Creepypastas have their own fandom. At first, this does not seem very surprising. I mean, there are plenty of well written creepypastas out there. But when you dive a little deeper, you start seeing some real scary shit. Most notably, there is thenewalfmonster68.

You may have seen this image if you browse the Cringeworthy Gallery on Know Your Meme. Well, this is only one of his most famous works. He lashes out at anyone who criticizes his art. In fact, once he learned his "time to killed people" picture started gaining a "following" on KYM, he made an account just to defend his art. Oh, and he is also a Bro.

And now, we move onto another part of this wonderful fandom. All of the Jeff The Killer Fangirls who draw him like some kawaii yaoi bishounen.

Seriously, just search "Jeff The Killer" on deviantart and then come back. Just do it.
Those first two? Shades of Golden Knight.

I like a lot of the stories on no sleep as well as some on the creepypasta wiki. Although i never really got the ones that are popular on tumblr. Probably because everyone there just seem to be stuck on the same ones and like to romanticize the shit out of the characters.

I agree with what people are saying about making all of the characters super kawaii desu. They're supposed to be horror characters, things to fear, and this specific archetype just ruins the whole atmosphere for me. On the other hand, I kind of like when eldritch abominations are desufied, mainly because they're not designed to be.

I'm so glad, skimming this thread, to know that someone else is picky about stuff like lidless eyes, you know, drying out and shit in exactly the way that Harvey Dent's didn't in Dark Knight. Maybe somebody knows more about human anatomy than I do, but wouldn't he have been unable to speak, missing half of the muscle that makes up the lips? (The orbicularis oris muscle, responsible for many a duckface in selfies.) Likewise, wouldn't Jeff and every other victim of a Glasgow grin have a severe speech problem, since that muscle has been slashed in two places?

See, what scares the shit out of me as a reader is grounded in plausibility. Even the eldritch-abomination genre. Something, somewhere, somehow about the story needs to be "omg could happen, maybe." It's entirely possible that I'm just picky as shit, but am I wrong about what would have been the Christopher Nolan version of Harvey Dent being totally unable to speak properly before he died of a massive systemic infection?

In that one Jeff-like creepypasta I just read, the oc's name is "Clockwork." When she becomes the psychotic killer she stitches her mouth into a Glasgow grin and gouges out one of her eyes to replace it with a random pocketwatch. I know she's trying to look all scary and all with the mouth stitches and the clock-eye. But is this scary motif really worth losing the depth perception, peripheral vision, and just other vision in general that that one eye gave her? If anything, the loss of one eye will make her less effective of a killer. But maybe Clockwork is just impulsive and irrational as an angtsy, angry teenager with a daaark past.
