Digital art seems like so much more trouble to me. If you wanted to, you could pick up literally any writing implement and start drawing whatever you want, literally anywhere. In order to do digital art you need to be in all these specific circumstances before you can even do it. You need a device, you need a program, you need a tablet, you need money to buy those things...
On the contrary, and I'm thinking on the level of 'strong enthusiast', digital art has some practical advantages if you can't work traditionally. Trying to do traditional art in a small living space is a bit of a pain in the ass for me because I have to worry about paint and other debris inevitably flying into clothes, food or the carpet, but with digital equipment I can do a finished piece in colour in my bedroom without going to sleep in a million eraser bits.
But holy fuck yes I agree with the sentiment that everyone who wants to git gud at art should learn the basics in traditional mediums first, I thought still life was boring as shit but now I'm so grateful I had to do it.
Oh my god no...

As October is almost over has anyone noticed anything about Inktober this year?

It might be every year but iv noticed that lots ok inktobers are really lazy. I know this trend of laziness defiantly is present in sjw art; but barely anything iv seen this year has been worthy of calling it a 'challenge'.

Iv also noticed that most popular artists just draw the same things again and again with no variation. These things of course are in any hobby because why kill somthing if it works? But has trends in the way artists process their work in sjw circles seeped into internet art? Because I really think they have

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never been a very big fan of Inktober because it's always about drawing petite and cute witches with black cat and artits sell some of them at the end of the month, maybe I don't really follow the good ones.

You’re absolutely right about that, I’m speaking as someone who’s never actually done digital art, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

I just worry about the impact the explosion of digital art has on young artists, and the fact that many only really experience art in this somewhat narrow way.

I know a few terrific guys who do a lot of non-Halloween specific entries for the month. Check out Gerben Valkema for instance.

That's been my concern as well. They wouldn't know what to do in case they didn't have access to a tablet/computer at all.

that depends. Sure it's a quarter of a price to buy some Traditional mediums but eventually your gonna have to buy new refills once in awhile. Same could be said getting new nibs for your tablet pen.
Not only that, but there's a ton of mitigating costs that most people probably don't even think about when talking about the costs of both mediums: the average min-max cost range (~$10< for cvs/office depot art supplies vs. a $100+ for the high quality stuff, or ~$50 vs. several thousand dollars for digital supplies), the longevity of a product, how well an individual takes care of their traditional or digital art supplies/how easy they are to maintain/potential planned obsolescence when working to achieve the maximum amount of longevity, how often you use a tool vs. how many hours you need to use that tool for to justify the purchase, a single time purchase vs. a continuous purchase/subscription plan, payment method used, etc.

My point was less about which medium is truly more cost effective - which is kind of a useless debate considering both the above and the "correct" answer being "whatever works for the artist" - and more that the price gap between the two is a lot narrower when you consider all the mitigating factors, and the ones I see who make blanket statements about how digital is undoubtedly much cheaper tend to be people who typically weren't the ones who personally had to pay for some of the more costly tools needed for digital art like a computer, tablet, or industry-standard software. An example of one such artist being known lolcow Andrew Dobson, who claimed he was doing Inktober digitally was cheaper even though all evidence points to his parents having bought him the iPad & Apple pen he used to make his half-hassed doodles.

It's also kinda funny when people complain about using ink for Inktober being too expensive or classist when Jake Parker emphasizes every year that you don't need the high grade tools to participate, and that making your pieces with cheap ballpoint pens and sticky notes is just as good so long as you're making a drawing once a day.

That's quite an interesting point about how digital art is getting more and more expensive. Iv noticed the tablet company Wacom dominate the tablet market with honestly awful prices for what you get. This is also added by the fact that there is such elitism with what tablet you have, what software you use.

Digital is a good gateway into developing some art skill but I would defiantly say that traditional is more skill required and more rewarding.
I think things started to real go down hill when Adobe decided to get rid of their perpetual licences and strong-arm their users into going along with the current subscription model.

Something I never really see the Tumblr/SJW digital artists talk about much when it comes to digital art costs is that independent professionals have been griping for years about how much Adobe screws them over: in the long run they're spending way more money on the software than they used to with perpetual licences, there's been a steady hiking in the subscription prices, the subscription packages offered are basically an "all or nothing" deal since it costs significantly more to buy only the software you need a la carte, most of the updates are useless at best or directly harms their productivity at worst, the shitty customer outsourced service, the way Adobe software is rendered unusable and files un-accessable when their servers crash because everything is stored on a cloud, the list of problems with Adobe CC goes on. But, at the same time, they also find themselves in a Catch-22 because Adobe has a fairly unchallenged stranglehold on the corporate market as their products are considered industry standard (more out of habit than because of any real merit behind Adobe's current products, if you ask me) so even though there's quite a few, much cheaper/more cost effective software options that are on par with - or in some cases, better than - Adobe products on the market, they find themselves still saddled with Photoshop and the like because they won't be given the time of day without it.

You'd think more Tumblr artists would talk about that sort of thing since so many of them tend go on about how much they hate capitalism and the like, but considering the number of SJWs I see using photoshop without comment on these issues my guess is the majority are either pirating it or aren't footing the bill for it themselves.
