The Creepypasta Fandom

I'm so glad, skimming this thread, to know that someone else is picky about stuff like lidless eyes, you know, drying out and shit in exactly the way that Harvey Dent's didn't in Dark Knight. Maybe somebody knows more about human anatomy than I do, but wouldn't he have been unable to speak, missing half of the muscle that makes up the lips? (The orbicularis oris muscle, responsible for many a duckface in selfies.) Likewise, wouldn't Jeff and every other victim of a Glasgow grin have a severe speech problem, since that muscle has been slashed in two places?
Aspiring psycho-physiologist here, yo. I remember when the other mods and I had a discussion about that. We came to the conclusion that, while the cheeks were cut to the dermis, there was simply not enough mandibular/subcutaneous damage as seen in the image and subsequent depictions to imply the inability to speak or movement prevention.

Of course, it was also decided that his skin in general would be considerably brittle due to the ammonia-carbon reaction of the burning bleach (which is a scientific impossibility, mind you), which would mean you could most likely stab him through the lungs by poking him.

Also, it's absolutely correct about his eyes. Without proper moisturizing, someone would be lucky to maintain usage of their eyes for a month. This also pushes my theory of infection, would easily make his mouth and orbital sockets septic.

... I've thought this through way too much.

still a bit ot, but on the note of exposed eyes...

...chase no face. bascially, a kitten was involved in a nasty accident and has no skin on her face. she might still be alive i guess, idk, and she can still see. she requires VERY special care, but is in capable hands. she's apparently also a therapy animal and was shown to some special classes (oh i'll bet that was a wonderful sight for high-strung little kids to behold. probably without warning). and she's not in pain because the nerves on her face don't work.

so there's that. kinda heartwarming, but also pretty...yeah

I love Chase No-Face, she's got the heart of a champion. And yeah, she's still alive. What a trooper. :heart-full:

That phrase's existence is extremely upsetting to me.

Welcome to furry fandom, my friend.

It's for 12 year olds who want the lore imagined for them rather than having imagination themselves.

Okay, so the kids want to imagine themselves fornicating with the creepypasta characters, but they won't imagine what their voices are like? Well, but at least the creepypastas are getting kids into reading right? Though the same could be said about those Twilight books, which also involves pussying up monsters which are supposed to be horrifying.

It's called Bonnie and Clyde Syndrome. Essentially, these children see themselves as special in terms of their own mortality. So, they use their imaginations to envision these scenarios with killers (who are typically written young i.e. Jeff, Ticcy Toby, Cl0ckwork, etc) and see themselves as the exception to their murderous intent. From there spawns an infatuation with the character in question, which then grows to a dependency. We at the CPW see this all the time with young boys and girls who say "Jeff would love me, he's mine". It's all dependency.

The best way we deal with this is attacking the story in question, forcing the infatuated to recognize the story as a story with faults. This separation of fiction and reality is the best method of curing those like this.

At the very least, at least they're not lusting after actual serial killers and mass shooters.

... Like some other people I can think of.

Agreed. I work in a hospital morgue and am also studying human anatomy (mostly bones and evolutionary stuff, but there's a lot of human bio in there) AND I'm minoring in criminology to boot. That stuff is all 100% true. All I could think throughout the Jeff story was how implausible it was.

Eyes would dry out. Infection would set in. Story version could probably talk okay (although the scar tissue would tighten the mouth and make speech more difficult) but not the photo version. Household bleach basically cannot lighten skin in that manner. Doctors don't dramatically unbandage faces and a teenage boy (especially one who had recently developed violent tendencies) who had suffered such extensive damage to his face would definitely be forced to undergo trauma counciling. His behaviour would never have been blamed on drugs, because heavy painkillers don't make you behave that way. You can't just 'gut' two people who would be struggling (especially since there was a gun nearby!) and fighting back with all their strength, especially when they're bigger and stronger to begin with. Kitchen knives probably wouldn't be sharp enough to actually gut a person from sternum to groin. Knives are extremely difficult murder weapons to use because they become slick with blood and that leads to the user cutting themselves up and/or dropping the knife. The police would doubtlessly be able to catch an inept, psychotic teenage boy pretty easily.

That's why I wanted to write a story in response where the killer is portrayed as naive and inept, who idealises the idea of using a butcher knife as a weapon only to find that when he attacks his prey she fights back incredibly hard, when he stabs her he just causes defensive wounds, he cuts himself on the knife, when he's actually able to get the drop on her and stab her in the chest he just hits bone, she's able to overpower him and, in fact manages to kill him.

It's basically what would actually happen if a teenage boy pulled a Jeff, without the stupid cliche psychotic break or self-mutilation.

I also wonder how Jeff, Clockwork, et. al. would go about in public and such. I mean, they still need to go out and interact with other normal people to get essentials such as food and hygiene products (especially to stay attractive to all the 12-year old girls!), right? If you have such dramatic facial disfigurations such as Glasgow smiles or eye damage you are going to stick out and make wary people stay away from you. Also, I know the killers burning down their houses is dramatic and all but then where the hell do they live after that? I doubt they become all Bear Grylls and live off the land with their handy kitchen knife or whatever. More likely than not they would succumb to exposure from heat of the day or cold of the night.

I figured they would just steal what they need from people's houses or live in a crawlspace.

I'm still really confused by Clockwork. Despite having no real difference (from a writing and development perspective - their narratives were different, obviously) to Ticci Toby and Jeff, she was pretty aggressively rejected by the creepypasta fandom for some time, same with another creepypasta 'character' called The Doll Maker. I wonder if it's because the fandom is largely young girls and they don't really like female characters invading the majority of idealized male characters.

I decided to have a quick look through crappypasta.com for self inserts and Jeff fanfic - and it certainly doesn't disappoint.

Insane Serenity. The first paragraph is literally:

"OKAY WE ARE DONE NEXT FUCKING PERSON TO POST A STORY ABOUT JEFF THE KILLER BEING MARRIED TO THEM OR OTHER SHIT IM GONNA KILL EXCUSE ME WE BOTH ARE GONNA KILL. DO YOU WANNA KNOW WHO HE IS? DO YOU WANNA KNOW WHO I AM? OH I’M NO ONE SPECIAL BUT SERENITY ROSE. THE GIRL WHO HANGS WITH JEFF AND GOES ON A KILLING SPREE. NO IM NOT SO POPULAR BUT THATS BECAUSE I THOUGHT JEFF WAS A RETARD FOR POSTING HIS STORY SO EVERY UNSOLVED CASE COULD BE POINTED TO HIM. IM HIS GIRLFRIEND NOT YOU! WHY ARE SOME GIRLS SO IN LOVE WITH HIM. WHAT IF THEY KNEW THE TRUTH ABOUT HIM ABOUT US? WOULD THEY STILL LOVE HIM? WOULD THEY HATE ME? I’M GONNA TELL THE STORY WE BOTH ARE GONNA PUT OUR FEELINGS BUT LIKE JEFF TOLD ME HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT WHAT HAPPENED BUT I’LL TELL YOU THIS I’M GLAD IT DID. AND I’M GLAD I MET HIM. IF YOU WANNA MESSAGE US THEN FEEL FREE TOO. [REDACTED] NO CAPITALS!.. LET ME SEE YOUR COMMENTS YOU BITCHES. BUT NEXT TIME ANYONE PUTS HIM AS A SEX TOY FOR OU OR ANYTHING I WILL FIND YOU AND KILL YOU."

And Slowly Going Crazy, which has a bio of the main character instead of an introduction.

I'm a sucker for bad art and writing.

Maybe the girls don't like having a female character to compete with their OCs for the affections of Jeff and all the other male creepypasta characters? But I'm perplexed too: Clockwork seems to be the perfect self-insert for creepypastas. Like Bella Swan of Twilight. Clockwork is a bullied, attractive, talented young women (supposedly in-story) who can help young women live out their violent revenge fantasies against the bullies. What a role model, right?

I've looked up The Doll Maker and he appears to be male. But what's with creepypasta characters being teenagers who "go insane" and then mutilate their own faces and murder people after having traumatic life experiences? Experiencing a life of trauma doesn't necessarily make one an insane killer, you guys. More likely than not the victim gets years of PTSD and nightmares, even with therapy.

I'm just hoping the young writers don't understand real-life psychology yet.

The creepypasta characters are teenagers that go insane because it's teenagers writing them and that's their only frame of reference.

Yeah, cause this guy totally warrants yaoi.
