In the House, I think Chris is in Virginia's 5th district. Robert Hurt is openly anti-gay. Lawrence Gaughan and Paul Jones are pro-gay. Ken Hildebrandt hasn't said anything on the subject, but knowing the Green Party I assume he's pro-gay too.
It's kind of hard to say who Chris will vote for if he's going by this issue alone. Definitely not Republican. Would he care enough about third-parties to show his support? Or maybe because he's Chris, he'd assume the third-party candidates are just as viable as the big two? Does he know libertarians hate Jerkops?
Chris is in the 5th district. Hurt, his current congressman, defeat Tom Perriello, a Democrat who Chris had written to about the trolls, in 2010. Also, a bit OT, but Hildebrandt is a member of the Independent Green Party of Virginia, which is not affiliated with the Green Party. They tend to be pro-gay marriage from what I've seen, though.
As for who Chris will vote for, I honestly couldn't guess. He's a low-information voter, and thus incredibly easy to manipulate.
Fortunately, Rob "Major Wuss" Bell is safe in his seat this election season.
Bell was actually up for reelection last year, as Virginia state elections are in years following presidential years. He unsuccessfully ran for Attorney General, so I'm not sure whether or not he's still a State Delegate.
I know the Indiana ballot has a box at the beginning where you can just tick Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian and be done with your vote rather than having to think about who you want to elect. It's called "straight-" something on the ballot; maybe not straight-ticket.
I had never heard of that! My state doesn't have that as an option.
Not every state has it (and some, like Rhode Island, are doing away with it), but it's colloquially referred to as straight-ticket voting, although its official name can vary from state to state.
Jesus, that sort of setup exists? That's retarded.
Agreed. We've been trying to get rid of it in Alabama for years, but the Republican and Democratic leadership like it.
To be honest, I'm surprised Chris was aware it was election day and was registered to vote -I'm not sure if VA is a "Motor Voter" State, if so, he could have registered on his DMV forms. I even made an off-hand remark in chat that someone would start a thread asking "Did Chris vote?"
Chris has been registered since at least 2008.
