LGBT Facebook 11-04-14 Chris votes by quoting Mary Poppins

I'm actually kind of curious who he's going to vote for. I work for a political campaign currently and I can tell you, a lot of normal people don't really research their candidates beyond their party and maybe their name (if they have a famous last name). I'd really love to know who Chris chose and why. He could wind up voting for staunchly anti-gay politicians just because he didn't know better.

I can see Chris being so poorly informed that he votes for all anti-LGBT candidates.

Heh, why do you guys think Chris would vote if he didn't have a candidate to vote for? It's possible, but very unlikely.
To be honest, I'm surprised Chris was aware it was election day and was registered to vote -I'm not sure if VA is a "Motor Voter" State, if so, he could have registered on his DMV forms. I even made an off-hand remark in chat that someone would start a thread asking "Did Chris vote?"

I think all states have to offer that because of federal law.

I wonder if he drew a Sonichu on his ballot paper? (also, wouldn't that invalidate his vote if he did?)

Short answer: It depends. Election law is a tricky thing. There's this whole desire not to void ballots unless there's a damn good reason to do so. In Virginia, for instance, if you vote for more than the number of candidates eligible for a single position (i.e., you mark two), your ballot is still legally valid for all the other otherwise valid choices.

But honestly, I have no idea.

Edit: On the other hand, many states follow the rule that where you mark a ballot in a way that can identify you as a voter (and thus serve as proof that you voted in a certain way so as to receive a payoff), the ballot should be invalidated. I'm not sure about Virginia, but I think drawing Sonichu on the ballot would qualify.

I wonder if Chris still draws on forms.

Virginia uses machines, and only uses paper ballots in case of technical difficulties, so Chris probably cast his vote on a touchscreen. Chances are that wouldn't invalidate his ballot anyway -I'm pretty sure no election worker would look at it (if they had to do a physical recount) and moan "Oh, no, it's that Chandler boy! I'd better throw this out before he taints the electoral process!" They'd just assume a kid doodled on it and their parent didn't request a new ballot.

Chris reminds me of all those facebook slacktivists who think that they're helping the problem because they "spread awareness" and wait for someone else to do the hard work. "I vote to support women and LGBTQ, and I posted it on facebook! I'm a champion of da cause! Now I gotta go home and break down and rebuild my lego high school for the 400th time."

Heh, well, voting's better than just hitting "share". Like if you vote and then go on to tell other people to vote, that's actually doing something, albeit arguably minor.

In the House, I think Chris is in Virginia's 5th district. Robert Hurt is openly anti-gay. Lawrence Gaughan and Paul Jones are pro-gay. Ken Hildebrandt hasn't said anything on the subject, but knowing the Green Party I assume he's pro-gay too.

It's kind of hard to say who Chris will vote for if he's going by this issue alone. Definitely not Republican. Would he care enough about third-parties to show his support? Or maybe because he's Chris, he'd assume the third-party candidates are just as viable as the big two? Does he know libertarians hate Jerkops?
Chris is in the 5th district. Hurt, his current congressman, defeat Tom Perriello, a Democrat who Chris had written to about the trolls, in 2010. Also, a bit OT, but Hildebrandt is a member of the Independent Green Party of Virginia, which is not affiliated with the Green Party. They tend to be pro-gay marriage from what I've seen, though.

As for who Chris will vote for, I honestly couldn't guess. He's a low-information voter, and thus incredibly easy to manipulate.

Fortunately, Rob "Major Wuss" Bell is safe in his seat this election season.
Bell was actually up for reelection last year, as Virginia state elections are in years following presidential years. He unsuccessfully ran for Attorney General, so I'm not sure whether or not he's still a State Delegate.

I know the Indiana ballot has a box at the beginning where you can just tick Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian and be done with your vote rather than having to think about who you want to elect. It's called "straight-" something on the ballot; maybe not straight-ticket.
I had never heard of that! My state doesn't have that as an option.
Not every state has it (and some, like Rhode Island, are doing away with it), but it's colloquially referred to as straight-ticket voting, although its official name can vary from state to state.

Jesus, that sort of setup exists? That's retarded.
Agreed. We've been trying to get rid of it in Alabama for years, but the Republican and Democratic leadership like it.

Chris has been registered since at least 2008.

I think it's more than unlikely. Maybe not likely, but still. Chris is incredibly easily manipulated by advertisements and social media, and I think it's quite possible he saw one of those Election Day things on Facebook or a campaign ad and just decided, spur of the moment, to go out and vote.

Incredibly unlikely.

Ok, so, Chris wouldn't go out and vote without something telling him to. Chris wouldn't vote for women's rights without something telling him that that's a possibility. So whatever told him to vote and to vote for women's rights gave him a list of people to vote for. Hence my last post.

As long as the :tugboat: is in question, he'd want to vote Democrat - a lot of Southern Libertarians are Ayn Rand fetishists that want to sink it.
Who knows - maybe he thinks he'll get to drive his own Electric Hedgehog Train around CWC's Gulch... and he has never had a good grip on the meaning of "give" anyway...

Well, chris voted democrat. One way or another

I say start slowly and then disengage from Chris. Dude isn't funny anymore. It's.....sad. It's like seeing the last year of Brett Favre's career.

I now want Brett Favre to play Chris in the CWC movie.

Dude you're spilling secret stuff everywhere

No more secrets. The people have a right to know.
