That's still for his civil case but if he started diverting money from it maybe. He'll probably get away with it somehow though he has made any testimony he might give in his own defense completely unbelievable and the judge will find nothing he says credible as a result of his blatant lying to the court.

I have to Wonder if Waid knows he's going to lose and he's trying to create a narrative of him being a "martyr" for Women, POC, Gays, and Trannies or is he really this delusional and thinks he'll win?

I don't think it was a coincidence that the original amount he asked for was the amount he'd need to settle with Meyer, but I'd imagine he's still struggling with his hero complex that makes him think he can just show up and screech "But your honor he's a NAZI and I'm SUPERMAN!" and win. The lingering traces of a rational mind have accepted that he's on the hook and going to lose, but the part of him that sincerely believes he's a comic book superhero is urging him to fight on.

He humble bragged last year that $725/hr was lower than him and that he should up his rates, CG has speculated that this is a minimum of $750/hr. I've personally suggested that a person who makes this kind of tweet isn't only going to be charging an extra $25, but is already in the ~$800 minimum range and wanting more.

It's hard to imagine someone much more toxic than Waid, and I doubt he needs all that much convincing. Waid's probably enjoying this on some level... when I say he thinks he's Superman I'm not entirely kidding. I think Waid has sincerely decided that he is a comic-level hero, and in his mind Meyer has given him a chance to fight a supervillain in court and be seen victoriously conquering the day and finally prove, really prove, that he is that hero and that "good" triumphs over "evil".

Don't get me wrong, Zaid's a posturing, virtue-signaling twit in an expensive suit who should probably stick to helping rich guys stiff their illegitimate children out of child support or get off the hook for banging thirteen-year-olds or whatever it is he does normally, but I'd say this is almost certainly all Waid's show. And he wants it to be a show. He's being more careful with his phrasing now, probably because Zaid is making him as much as possible, but he's gotta stir up the drama, make this public, make it known. In his mind he's not only the champion of good facing down the forces of evil, he's doing it at 8am on Saturday morning with all of Metropolis cheering him on, and he'll continue to make as much of that fantasy happen as he can.

If he loses... which seems fairly likely, though we'll see... expect another comic series in the vein of Irredeemable, where The Hero loses and The Bad Guy wins, and the world embraces The Bad Guy and becomes the theme park version of Nazi Germany, leaving The Hero broken and discarded but still so very strong and morally superior.
