I didn't think "skeptic" was something people were self-identifying as. I always thought it was an assigned term, like SJW, that we were giving to these right-leaning atheist types.
Skeptic is a much older term that people apply to themselves, like james randi, who used to have a contest to win a large sum of money for anyone that could demonstrate paranormal powers in a controlled experiment. You can still find channels of people that call themselves skeptics in channel name on youtube.
SJW was a term that was used between what we now call sjws to shame people that only did their activism online. Kinda like keyboard warrior. But most people did not receive the term as a negative at first, because they were proud of the fact that they fought for "social justice".
