These are not mutually exclusive. It can be both. And it is. I'd say that it even is just by definition and without having to show the propaganda value of how caitlyn jenner / bruce jenner unveiling was done or trans kids shows.

After all, if these professionals that you mention are only doing for the money and thus knowingly know they are harming their patients (I think the degree to which suicide increases shows that in part, and the other part is if you consider how painful the daily experience of dilating is for MtF's, for example), then the people that are transtrenders (so excluding the tiny group of intersex people) are being scammed with lies and incomplete information.
