This is not an instantaneous process. Investigations take time in the first place, and the police department engaged is not a large, urban department with a lot of resources to throw at these kinds of investigations. As it is, the investigation may lead to a dead end because there might not be enough evidence available for them to bring charges against Kero in the first place. And if they're not reasonably certain they can get the charges to stick, they're probably not going to bother.
