Patreon, the popular online crowdfunding platform, investigated YouTube personality Carl Benjamin — more commonly known as "Sargon of Akkad" — for potentially violating its code of conduct through his behavior at VidCon, a Patreon representative confirmed to Mic.

"Because of what happened at VidCon, it has been on our radar, so we have been looking into it," said Mollie Starr, head of communications at Patreon, at 5 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.

Two hours later, Patreon followed up in an email to say Benjamin was in the clear.

"While distasteful and definitely not something we agree with, Sargon's content and conduct do not violate our policies," a spokesperson said. "Regarding Sargon of Akkad … he has not posted content to his account since November of 2016. In addition, we have received very few complaints about his page. We do not consider attendance at a public event to violate our policies, but we understand the controversial nature of the events at VidCon have more context and we continue to monitor those involved."

I don't think that will be a concern for him until his channel gets nuked. It seems they mainly dickride him because he's got the largest sub count.

His recent twitter meltdowns where he openly smeared Andy Warski as a pedophile, tagged in the FBI claiming Andy was a mass shooter and openly calling for people to pile on Andy were clear and blatant breaches of the Terms of Service under bullying and harrassment. Carl handed them a reason to get rid of him on a silver platter.

I've got not doubt the political thing is part of the reason, they've probably been wanting to give him the arse for a while now. But in acting the way he has been acting he gave them a clear breach of TOS in which they can wash their hands of him and make out it had nothing to do with politics.

It's not readily clear that Sargon is behind those twitter accounts, so I don't imagine his tweets had anything to do with it. We might know it's him, but some underpaid intern who is tasked with investigating these reports wouldn't see the connection.

Really, just think about it. Up until the whole Ralph getting kicked off YouTube thing, while things were definitely heated and the two camps absolutely hated each other, things still had a shot at getting better, provided Carl would stop sperging out.
The moment Carl celebrated Ralph getting the boot was the moment he lost any chance anyone in this thread or just in general not brightly on his side would feel bad for him getting kicked off Patreon. I have no warm feelings for this idiot (at most pity for his wife and the kid, since the man of the family just lost his only real income source and is unhireable because of his track record) and still had he not gone ‘your misfortune is funny because fuck you’ I’d have probably felt bad for him getting deplatformed.

Yeah, this is unironically a bad sign for anyone vaguely right of center but I can’t say he did nothing to deserve it.
