alright next sonic games im gonna talk about are shit. its the storybook duoligy.
first game is Sonic and the Secret Rings, released for the Nintendo Wii on Febuary 2007
View attachment 599513
the games art is said to be inspired by shadow of the colossus, prince of persia, and god of war.
the game introduced another super form for sonic, Darkspine Sonic, which is a more violent form of super sonic.
sonic characters also plays roles of the storybook characters
Tails is Ali Baba
Knuckles is Sinbad the sailor
and Dr. Eggman is King Shahryar
The Story:
Sonic was sleeping after reading the Arabian Nights book, he was awakened by a ring. a genie named Shahra comes out of it and asks sonic to help her save the world of the arabian nights, which is being erased by the game's villain, Erazor Djinn, who was originally the genie from aladdin and the magiv lamp. she tells sonic that the pages from the arabian nights are going blank and if the erazor fully erases the arabian nights, he will then go and take over Sonic's World. sonic decides to go to the arabian nights worlds and fight the erazor and his monsters and also collect the seven world rings.
the game was surprisingly met with positive to mixed reviews and got a metacritic score of 69. but people know this game is crap.
why is it bad?
The camera is locked behind you at all times. even if you want to backtrack it wont turn around.
the game is played on rails, which means you cant really do much except go forward and only slightly go left or right.
unresponsive motion controls that can make the game unplayable
the controls feel like they belong in a racing game than a platformer
you are required to do side missions to proceed to the next level and continue the story
there isnt a way to figure out which side mission gives you a world ring, meaning you have to go find a guide on the internet that can help you.
the good qualities:
the soundtrack is awesome. like the games main theme, seven rings in hand
the minigames are pretty fun
the voice acting was good.
the game then got a sequel, but instead of arabian legends, its in the world of king arthur
Sonic and the Black Knight, released for the Nintendo Wii on MArch 2009
like sonic and the secret rings, sonic characters play roles of storybook characters
Tails is a blacksmith
Amy is Nimue, The Lady of the Lake
Shadow is Sir Lancelot
Knuckles is Sir Gawain
Blaze is Dame Percival
Silver is Sir Galahad
and Jet is Sir Lamorak
The Story: in the world of King Arthur, a wizard girl named Merlina, who is the granddaughter of Merlin, is being chased and then cornered by a corrupted King Arthur and his monsters. she performs a summoning spell to call fourth a champion to help her, who happens to be sonic. he agress to help her while being hunted by king arthur and his monsters and his knights of the round table. sonic later obtains and befriends a talking sword name caliburn.
the game was met with mixed reviews and got a metecritic score of 54. but we know the game was crap.
why is it bad?
Like sonic and the secret rings, the game is played on rails, meaning the game sometimes plays by itself and you only slightly move left and right
sonic's sword is the only way of damaging enemies. homing attacks and jumping on enemies do nothing.
the whole "sonic with a sword" premise feels like a poorly made fan fiction that somehow got a big budget
sir gawain knuckles almost commits suicide in one cutscene. ya know, for kids!
good qualities:
soundtrack was great. and its main theme knight of the wind, courtesy of crush 40
voice acting was good.
good graphics for wii standards
melina was an interesting character
lame stories. they were so bad, sega didnt even bother with a 3rd game.
