his podcast streams are his grand finale of begging, where he goes to no end reading off his woe is me crafted stories to squeeze whatever he can out of whoever.
the fact that he is just nonchalantly talking about skipping it is very odd and i think it may be one of two things.

1. the holiday gaming marathon failure hit him and as we saw he couldn't deflect or change the narrative so his ego had to take the reality that no one found his shit entertaining and not even the exceptional individuals are pity baited by his cries for help. phil is terrified of that happening again and his ego being crushed even worse. it's like in fighting games where he just avoids multiplayer because he literally cannot take losing. if this is the case he is either blatantly lying about the money he needed or he and kat thought up a new plan for the future and something drastic will happen.

2. phil is going to do it no matter what but is just pushing every inch of wahh feel bad for me and also wants people to reply "hey what about the podcast i was really looking forward to it!!" because hes that much of a teenage girl. I can already hear it tomorrow
*unmutes mic* *speaks from the back of his throat in the roughest way he can* "well hello everyone, after much debate i decided to just say what the hell i cant miss this. i mean after seeing OVERWHELMING support and interest and people saying phil cmon phil every year you do the podcast you cant miss this year i said what the hell lets give it a try"

Option 3: One of his pay pigs ate up the depression woe is me mah poor throat bullshit hook, line and sinker and sent him like $2000 tip via paypal on x-mas eve. I always say, he always starts to skip streams, show up late, act egotistical when he is over fed. you over feed the pig and he gets fat and lazy. i wouldnt bne surprised at all if he got a big x-mas tip that needs ot stay "behind the scenes" so trolls dont attack the donator. its hard to explain why else he would skip huge begging streams (other than option 1 and 2 abovve which are also very good theories). of course its also possible he is lying that he needs money that bad and he wanted it for a big x-mas gift for kat or a ring or a vacation and kat told him dont worry about getting it this year so he no longer is worried a bout it.

or going back to dsp needing the 16k to pay off kats debt so they can get married theory. maybe she told him she thinks they should wait to get engaged and married for a while regardless so he no longer desperately needs the money to pay her debts. maybe she broke this delay of the marriage news to him in the middle of the drinking stream which is why he came back so depressed and upset and then lost all interest in begging for money the next several days.

i'm willing to bet phil's untimely absence in due to khet drama, which i'll broadly call option 4.

on option 1: i can't imagine him having the shame to be depressed out of streaming altogether due to lack of support. he knows how to ham it up and complain about lack of support in previous streams and guilt his piggies into coughing up their lunch money. a slow stream wouldnt make him give up doing the rest of his christmas stuff altogether.

on option 2: i dont think phil is dumb enough to try this. he's also not very good at changing his mind.

on option 3: maybe, then he lies about being sick? i guess. that would be the best way to play hooky he has. or, relatedly, maybe he always planned to bail on the holiday streams because he's been doing so well lately financially.

option 4: kat put the foot down and said "nigger if you think you're sitting on the couch begging for money this christmas while i sit in my room alone and play overwatch then you're sorely mistaken. i've abandoned my family a year ago for the gout palace and if you can't give me at least some of your time for christmas this year then i'm done." or some kind of ultimatum like that. i can't imagine what else would cause him to bail on what has historically been his most important streams of the year.

You're clearly not familiar with Kat if you think she would complain about not being near her family for Christmas, or complain about Phil trying to leech Christmas money from his fans.

When I was around 10, sometimes I told my parents i dont feel too good when i didnt want to do something. At 10. He does that at 36. Obviously he is not sick, he just changed begging strategy. If he was actually sick and if he actually needed the money, he would do it. Everything this fuck does makes me sick.

If it’s not the kind of funeral/wake where you keep a bottle with the corpse to keep the whiskey cool, then it’s not that huge of a deal to go and then come back if there’s something you gotta get done.

I had major knee surgery on a Friday and was at work the next Monday. People could see the blood soak through the bandages and stain my pants. Blood is a bitch to get out, but I had shit to do and the company I was working for was ass who would have given me some sort of “demerit” had I not shown up. I quit that shit soon after and went somewhere else.

If your kids want to play football, get them into rugby instead. Better on your body.

I really do't understand this garbage ass excuse. My throat is swollen. From what? I've had colds and I've lost my voice and I have gotten strep. My throat has never swollen from any of those things. They might hurt a bit or quite a bit but they don't swell up. I assume he means sore throat, but that doesn't sound as dramatic. If it is that bad then he may have strep and he really should go see a doctor. Strep goes away on it's on but it can cause some serious issues, and you are contagious longer if you don't take antibiotics.

Last time I got so sick that I had to miss work...I played video games at home wrapped up in a couple of blankets.

This seems like a much more plausible reason for his throat being swollen and his voice suffering from that as a result than having a cold for over a week.

Yeah it's just a fancier name he decided to use. For what it really is, it's a slightly longer pre-stream.
Might have just chose to call it a podcast to make it seem like a special event to draw in more viewers.

I'm not too up on Twitch rules but don't they get pissy if you don't categorize your stream correctly? Is this a way for him to step around that and keep himself in the gamer bucket versus the IRL tag, or whatever it is they have?

I mean it's in the Twitch TOS but it's probably their least enforced rules. He's always got his 1hr+ IRL prestreams labeled as the game he's going to be playing, so I doubt that's why.

I think he heard everyone talking about podcasts and just thought it sounded "hip" to name it that. Back in the day he called them vlogs but nobody uses that term anymore.

Show up Thursday, have a story to share about boozing it up, and back on schedule.

Two problems though. 1. Phil is an alcoholic so heavy drinking id a daily occurrence. 2. Phil is a hermit who drinks alone at 2 am instead of partying with friends.
