Not even slightly surprising, in fact I expect it in this day in age of "It's not what you know at all, who you know is everything", it's practically what most of these peoples careers are built upon.

When Chelsea heard the saying "It's not who you know, it's who you blow," she took it completely literally.

There’s a bigger connection there, they are somewhat close friends irl. They run in the same circles and it isn’t just “durrr they sang karaoke together one time”. But who cares, Laura lost her job because she’s garbage who published shit articles like that one.

Wouldn’t expect the cosplay hag to know any of that because before CG she was a bizarro Christian who hated gays. Now she considers herself a meatshield for trannies in comics, go figure

Ren is positioning herself as the Minister of Propaganda for Anti-CG. Anytime Zack posts a video or coughs in public, she's screaming about "Dick Meyers drove across several states to run over a woman!1!1!!111!1!11!". But when some on her side like Eric Esquivel gets called out for going after minors and sexually harassing co-workers, she downplays it like a champ. I'm not surprised to see her stanning for Chelsea and acting like there the only thing involved was karaoke.

Well, expect Chelsea to use this to her advantage. She'll start Twitter sperging about how having an article that pointed out the ethics of the situation is MUH HARASSMENT and GIBS MUNNY PLX!
If she wants to start Gamergate 2.0 (and I suspect she does), she should fuck Sargon.

You're right, she's jockeying to be the "Sarahbutts" Nyberg of CG.

It isn't a "Spurious" reason; Chelsea literally had friends write articles for her game and now comic.

To what "degree" they were friends (actual friends, fuck buddies, trading sex for coverage) is uncertain and it played up for the "harassment" angle in an effort to overshadow that writing articles for your friends without any disclosure is unethical and is journalist ethics 101 and it isn't just unethical if you're banging them. Chelsea being Chelsea probably did have sex with all of them, though.

The cosplay hag was accusing people of “weaponizing sexual assault” yet I never saw her vehemently attack or callout Esquivel for his gross behavior. He denied it, then apologized and owned up to it by blaming.....James Bond, and finally deleted the apology.
Even sadder, being Chelsea's attack dog makes Ren the Jake Alley of the Anti-CG set.
Hahaha, when can we expect Ren’s “Dear Zoe” post? That’s going to be a good one, just like Jake’s.

It was just a matter of time before the CG speds started making videos basically just reading that article. Looks like Yellow Flash is the first.
Really, though, we shouldn't blame Quinn so much as The Verge and the article writer Laura Hudson for not disclosing the relationship. It's their job to do so, not Quinn's.

I'm not sure if I've brought this up here before, but when Zoe's book came out, a reporter for Elle Magazine interviewed her and actually asked her some tough questions. Zoe actually mentioned her without naming her in the tumblr post she made after Jake Alley's Zoepost II, and accused her of bringing up "conspiracy theories". The interview was never published- I don't know the exact reasons why but I guess that Elle thought that criticizing Zoe was too risky.

I know about this because I've talked to some people who talked to the reporter.

So... Because we can never escape from this shit, let's travel back to earlier at a previous E3, when indie darling The Last Night stole the show with its advanced graphics and unique setting idea. Unfortunately the developer behind it, Tim Soret, proceeded to get immediately attacked by Quinn, because OMG, HE SUPPORTED GOBBERTYGRAB ONCE. NeoGAF, back when it was still ResetERA, jumped on the bandwagon immediately, leading to months of real-time harassment against TIm Soret. Unfortunately, that shit has not ended, because now Soret's facing harassment again:

TL;DR: Quinn's earlier developed shitstorm led her buddies on Twitter to constantly attack Soret in an effort to shut down the development of his game. They succeeded, after her buddies in the gaming press declared him an evil misogynist, when several financiers of the game pulled out. While development is still moving forward, they've effectively hamstrung the game's development, so it's definitely coming out later, rather than sooner.

Even with no real power, and having left it entirely, she's a fucking blight on the industry.

I can't read "gaming journalism ethics" without taking it about as seriously as "hardcore pornography decency."

The anti-GGers would often say "But we don't want to take away the games you want to play!" Once again, that is proven to be a ridiculous and easily-falsifiable argument.

I'm not so sure about fear of reprisal. Zoe's reach is extremely limited (especially after she waited years to shit out her book) and Elle is unlikely to cross paths with her ilk.

It may have been just plain disappointment. Elle was probably hoping to publish an uplifting tale of "quirky internet girl beats the trolls", but found out she was a terribly unsympathetic subject since they actually engaged in journalism instead of just blindly kissing her ass like her pals and fuckbuddies do.

The entire industry has to protect Quinn no matter what she does. She's the entire lynchpin of "misogynist hordes of the internet" "Gamergate was the proto-alt-right" and "no bad tactics only bad targets". They can't back out now, even if they wanted to. Theres no way any mainstream type of site would ever dunk on her. If they do, then you know the industry is about to crash hard and someone decided to throw a grenade on the sinking ship.
