Horrorcow Zoe Quinn / Chelsea Van Valkenburg / Locke Valentine / @UnburntWitch / @Primeape / CrashOverride / Hat Box / Old Uncle Anime - Con Artist, Abuser, Sexual Harasser, Drove Alec Holowka to Suicide.

I think the only similarity between Helen of Troy and this skank is that both were just pretext to start the fight. Nothing is more hilarious to me as her inflated sense of importance. "I'm so important because the trolls that trolled me started alt-right" or similar nonsense. No, Chelsea is not important, she is perfectly replaceable nobody, as stupid hoes are dime a dozen, and just by accident she ended up with her fake "fame" that steadily dissipates into nothingness.

I'm pretty sure that if I didn't stumble upon KiwiFarms, I would never hear about her, and even if I ever heard or read about her she would not register in my mind as someone of any importance.

She should cherish her KF thread, because it's one of the few places that gives her any attention. Granted, she can raise some stink about an indie game she would never be able contribute to, but still it doesn't make her important, it just makes her pathetic envious pig she is.

So... Because we can never escape from this shit, let's travel back to earlier at a previous E3, when indie darling The Last Night stole the show with its advanced graphics and unique setting idea. Unfortunately the developer behind it, Tim Soret, proceeded to get immediately attacked by Quinn, because OMG, HE SUPPORTED GOBBERTYGRAB ONCE. NeoGAF, back when it was still ResetERA, jumped on the bandwagon immediately, leading to months of real-time harassment against TIm Soret. Unfortunately, that shit has not ended, because now Soret's facing harassment again:

TL;DR: Quinn's earlier developed shitstorm led her buddies on Twitter to constantly attack Soret in an effort to shut down the development of his game. They succeeded, after her buddies in the gaming press declared him an evil misogynist, when several financiers of the game pulled out. While development is still moving forward, they've effectively hamstrung the game's development, so it's definitely coming out later, rather than sooner.

Even with no real power, and having left it entirely, she's a fucking blight on the industry.
The meat of this was a series of tweets back on page 263/264 of this thread, going back to June 2017. Credits to @selere , @BlueSpark , @Elwood P. Dowd & @Hellfire for originally linking, screenshotting & posting things:

It's interesting to see the followup & continuation of stuff 300+ pages back. Still working on that index btw

People and things change. Why defend a obvious scam artist? It just makes you look bad in connection.

The short answer, autism.

The long answer is the law of sunk costs and connections.

The law of sunk costs you can read about in depth elsewhere, but the gist is that the more people invest in something the more likely they are to defend it and invest in it more since they don't want to admit that the initial investment was wasted. This increases investment which makes them want to defend it and- you get the idea.

As @Jaimas said, people an heroed their entire careers, burned bridges, and sunk websites over this. But it didn't start that way. It started with a few journos looking the other way for a colleague who was caught trading sex for articles, then they had to deny Patreon support and reviewing friends games, by the time game journos pro mailing list was leaked they were already too deep in it.

As for connections, you don't know how many are in the cult. It would be like if you were a professional ResetEra poster. It doesn't matter if you agree with the nonsense they post or not, you toe the party line and keep your head down or it's your career that's over. As @Jaimas said games journalism was already fucked when GG happened. Doritogate, Gertmanngate, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2. The ship was already sinking and journalists are trying to keep their heads above water as long as they can. Publicly saying "Fuck Zoe Quinn! Where are the games and game jams she promised?" is a good way to get yourself kicked from the last piece of floating debris, or kicked out the "nerd media" clique in general.

Game Journalism in particular had been fucking worthless for a while by the time GG happened - an engaged alternative press was now the new normal, and general consensus was that conventional Games Journalism had been dead since print Media started to die. Scandal after scandal had rendered the Games press about as well-liked as an impacted bowel, and more outlets devoted to "Games" were sperging about intersectional Social Justice than about the games themselves by the time GG occurred.

I remember back when Game Trailers had a "worst scandals" video and number 1 was Gerstmanngate because it damaged gaming journalisms reputation to a point where it might never fully recover in our lifetime. Funny how things look in hindsight.

TL;DR: Same culture war shit that caused GG, only the infection got way deeper in the case of Comic Books. There is a reason so many Anti-CGers were mainstay Anti-GGers. It's the same fucking idiocy none of us can get away from and which will not relent until the ideology behind it wears itself dry.

And the best part, the people they are afraid of and are kicking ass at every turn aren't anonymous game developers and professional pundits, but a coughy man recording videos in his car/on a sofa.

If anything, Gerstmann getting fired delayed the inevitability of something like GamerGate happening by 4+ years, because that kicked off a bunch of the more popular voices at IGN and Gamespot fleeing to new alternatives. People wouldn't have been able to get fans to pay for their own sites or start working at the various gaming verticals for the New Media if a bunch of gamers weren't trying to boycott the big 2.

In hindsight I'm glad the whole thing happened because if it didn't the resulting controversy would probably have been over these publications having too close of ties to big publishers instead of the entire industry being staffed by hacks. Way less lolcows like Zoe would've come out of it had that been the case.

Years before GG and Gerstmangate people were mocking "gaming journalists" and what they were starting to become, but back then people could take a joke, it wasn't "targetted harassment and death threats" to call Kieron Gillen a pretentious sack of wank.

Games journalism had for decades balanced the fact that they're mostly shit against being the only game in town, so people didn't have that much choice, the internet and youtube upset that balance though and making jokes at their expense was suddenly not ok anymore.

Not all of the people were shit but games journalism was what we call "enthusiast press". They weren't journalists, they had no education, they can't write, they just liked games but didn't know more than any other gamer yet some of them got to write about it. The same thing can been seen in other tech-oriented subjects, some sports and some hobbies, it was just that games became truly special in how it grew much, much worse with time instead of getting better.
Nepotism certainly had something to do with that, if there's one grip people have had with most of the games media in recent years it was how blatantly incestuous it had become. The writers themselves also forgot their original and plebeian purpose: writing about and reviewing games is consumer advice. Instead they seemed to start shunning the people that ultimately kept them fed, so their audience started to leave, this most unfortunate series of events left many in traditional games media bitter and they resented their audience even more.

The overrunning of Games Journalism with these fucksticks didn't begin as an ideological takeover.

It began specifically because of a cynical drive to move traffic and maximize cash, regardless of how much they poisoned the waters in the process. See, the old adage "don't shit where you eat" is a pretty good rule of thumb to go by in this regard, establishing that you shouldn't fuck up a thing that works by pissing off the one thing that your business relies on more than anything else (its customers).

What happened is that clickbait became popular as a way of trying to maximize ad revenue and get more eyes on websites. This was cynical, short-sighted, and ultimately has proven suicidal for many websites, but at the time this was seen as the way to get cash. And the best way to do that? Microtarget social media users. Who are mostly women. Throw some outrage pieces their way and hope enough people get pissed enough to check it out. Low-rate some game that everyone was looking forward to for horse-shit reasons. If it gets views, don't even give a shit about your content. When these sites started embracing this shit, it left their staff with two choices: Adapt or fuck off. So many companies had their entire staff switch over to clickbait and whinge about Feminism and intersectional Social Justice because that's what got the views. Over time, they realized that they didn't even need people who knew about video games at all, they could hire shitheads who got laughed off Buzzfeed, pay them in packing peanuts, and pocket the difference.

Their decision to do this led to a lot of ideologues popping up in the field because they were specifically hiring to try to feed the outrage machine. By this point the bulk of their previous staffers were now firmly part of that machine and were effortlessly exploited by their own buddies, because Entryism is a fucking religion for these assholes. Their natural cronyism, at this point, is what led us to the events that caused the Autism Holy War.

The irony, of course, is that clickbait is fucking dying right now, due to the same problems hitting the rest of the ad economy in the wallet.

The majority also hated Fox News. Am I remembering that right?
I used to pop in to the /v/ threads in the early days to see what was happening. I was following Milo before that so when he tweeted that he was writing about it I figured they'd be interested so I posted the tweet in the thread. Queue a lot of sperging out about Breitbart and Fox and how they weren't the kind of media they wanted to be associated with and would hurt GG's reputation.

That and calling Boogie a fat faggot when he showed up in a /v/ thread was my involvement in gamergate, good times.

The problem with clicks for ads if you're doing it with outrage bullshit that pisses people off is that your ads may get clicks, but if people are pissed off enough, they look at the ads next to what pissed them off, and get pissed off at whoever sells what those fuckers are advertising, and more than just not buying their shit, actively seeks out revenge against them.

This cost Gawker, by their own admission, something like seven figures, even more than that worthless cocksucker Sam Biddle.

Nobody is going to pay for that kind of "publicity."

Now Gillen writes the pretentious sack of wank comic called "The Wicked + The Divine".

It's exactly the kind of comic that i expected Zoe Quinn to plagiarise to be honest.
A dangerhair POC lesbian is chosen by female lesbian devil to be the strongest of all the dangerhair gods that are reborn for 2 years every 90 or whatever. Said Dangerhair POC Lesbian main character has no character, personality and defining features besides being the most powerful and liked character in the story by no admission of her own, supporting cast includes a MtF Tranny journalist, kanye west, old racist lady and Elvis if he was the leader of a biker gang (the only good character).

The comic sucks btw

About a decade ago, it was pointed out by like forty different major groups that the ad market was on the verge of destroying itself. The TL;DR of it was that they'd been too short-sighted and in a desire to make (and keep making) a quick buck, they'd fallen into a trap of their own making.

First, by the time of the initial discussions of this, Adsense and similar ad-serving sites had repeatedly allowed malicious ads (ones allowing drive-by downloads of spyware and malware) onto their platforms, and despite claims that they were going to do something about it, kept letting that shit happen, to the point where people running Adblock and the likes of Noscript did so as a fucking safety issue. No one wants to deal with fucking ransomware or trojans that then proceed to infect your rig faster than Nurgle's diseased prick. This short-sighted "anyone can use our platform, we'll fix it later" shit is also what led to pandemic retardation like the Evony saga (a Chinese data-mining Civilization clone with graphics stolen from Age of Empires, whose ads could make even the most mundane website look like a fucking porn site and whose ads stuck around for fucking ages despite fucking countless complaints to Goggle because they did a like 50 million dollar buyin on Google adsense).

Second, ad fraud had been on the rise for ages, but at the time of the prediction, it was at the point where it was getting worse. It was fucking hilariously easy for a competing company or even a few assholes with the right scripts to use Adsense's own mechanics to completely exhaust an ad buyin's budget, and while Google has always maintained that they'll redeem any cash befrauded, hardly a year goes by without Google getting nailed for Ad Fraud again and having to pay tens of millions. Now they have shit like AdNauseum and various other programs on top of this, causing additional Ad Fraud and further fucking up dynamics.

The result of all this is where we are now, wherein Advertising is now worth less than ever before, with maybe 1 cent of actual eyes on your product for every dollar spent. By trying to aggressively go with clickbait, they made that critical mass hit that much faster, and in turn, caused that many more people to use ad-blocking software, to say nothing of how many people just said "fuck this" and stopped looking at the articles, because nobody cares what some insane SJW thinks about a game they barely played that they had every intention of calling racist/sexist/whatever long before they picked up a fucking control pad and has absolutely nothing to offer over the other outlets doing the exact same fucking thing. Small wonder so many of these clickbait sites keep fucking dying, then.

Sorry, not watching any videos of Jeremy, he's almost as repellent as Zoe herself. Can you give me a TL;DW?

Zoe Quinn had a bunch of reviews done of her new comic that, surely by coincidence, were done by personal friends of hers, proving she has learned absolutely fucking nothing the last time this happened back in 2014. She apparently was so traumatized by GG she wound up bringing a virtually identical incident to her comics buddies 5 years later.

Do you know what the difference between when Zoe does this and when Wu does this, as she did during the development of Revolution 60?

When Wu does it, it's out of a legitimate, if stupid, attempt to support her own work, which, despite its litany of problems, Wu very much does care about, and she does for more than simple power or cash-grabbing reasons. She wouldn't have pumped half a million into the fucking thing otherwise. Say what you will about the game sucking - you'll be right - but Wu legitimately wanted the game to do well and put as much effort as she could muster into it for all her incompetence and petulence.

Quinn meanwhile, has always been out for herself and has a long and glorious history of throwing her friends down the stairs for her own ends. Every single person who An Hero'd their careers in her defense? Yeah, Quinn cares not. She is a serial backstabber and she repeats the same mistakes because she doesn't give a single solitary fuck about anyone but herself.

I'm starting to get a better understanding of that whole "Time is an endless circle" theory because of this autism. It's kind of why I hope she does latch on to the furry community like the parasite she is -- if there's one "fandom" that deserves to get utterly ruined its furries, and she's proven cancerous enough to have a chance of damaging even them.

It’s more the progressive left that populates the media only has one idea, or one strategy, that they just use over and over. The sad thing is their counterparts on the right are incredibly bad at pattern recognition and just get hit with the same thing over and over. Like the animatronics on a never ending Disney Dark Ride. This is the root of the whole “NPC” thing. Trump was elected precisely because he disrupted the constantly looping script.

There are reasons games journalism, anime and game translations, and comics got utterly wrecked by social justice, but video games and board games as a whole survived is that at the end of the day creative people make things. The furry fandom has survived smear campaigns, rapists, people smearing feces on hotel walls, and even a chlorine gas attack. But no matter how much drama comes from or is directed at the big names in the fandom, people like me furries will continue to draw things and films like Zootopia will continue to be made.

How would she profit from going full furry, though? She's surely profited decently from her hijinks in games and comics, but what money is there in the furry "industry?"
