It's the same stupid argument as Major Mokoto getting "white-washed" for the American Ghost in the Shell, Shyamalan's Last Airbender not casting the right ethnicity actors (literally the least of its problems), and just about everything else these days, like for the Cowboy Bebop live-action series still in production. Far as I can tell, the Japanese actually don't give a shit about who cosplays their favorite character/gets cast as who in Hollywood.

ED did an article about that guy. He's Indonesian, which makes it even funnier. I'd like to see some clitless Indonesian women try and cosplay. The only character they could pull off is No-Face, and all they would need is the mask.

Does he even realize Rem and pretty much every character in that series, except the main, is implicitly white? Rhetorical question of course, because the answer is no.

I think Indonesians really drank the Kool-Aid when it came to that Japanese Co-Prosperity Sphere-era Anti-Western, Pan-Asian solidarity nonsense. The Indonesian nationalist movement was real enthusiastic about that ideology during and after the Pacific War

Welcome to every argument about ethnicity ever. Nobody but third parties give a shit. Any reasonable European country would clap their greasy jewish fingers at the slightest mention of their country in an American show.

Japs don't give a shit in general. They're isolated and xenophobic, so Ghost in the Shell basically just cost American people money both to watch and produce, and it promoted Japan. Win-win.
