What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

I wonder if it's some kind of "we need to hold on to the rights"-type scam, like I think Sailor Moon Crystal was.

Teen Titans Go at the very least has a more appealing art style then this. I really wonder who there trying to market this show to because Thundercats is the kinda property that only a niche amount of people know about since theirs only been two iterations of it.

At least kids like TTG, despite raging tards screaming otherwise.

Izzy yeah but leave the others alone :'(

Since nobody's mentioned them yet Vancouver's Pedobear-esque are lifeless and pretty terrible too (in my opinion):

The overall impression I get from this group is that they couldn't decide on any one thing so they threw a bunch of random shit together to see what would stick.
i like the 2010 mascots :heart-empty:

I hate Deku and Bakugo’s hero suits. Deku’s looks especially ridiculous. I get that it’s supposed to look like All Might but, it comes off like a weird rabbit.

I don’t want to double post, so I’ll add that Ness and Lucus have terrible 3D renderings. Their sprites in Earthbound and Mother 3 are much nicer.

Bakugo looks like pedo bait

I can sort of see where you're coming from with Deku, even though I think his costume looking ridiculous because he's trying to imitate All Might is the whole point, but how the hell can you look at Bakugo's costume and not see it as a perfect visual representation of this guy's character? Great design is looking at a character for five seconds and instantly understanding what type of person they are.
The explosive military thing looks a little cheesy and I don’t know what the functional point of the headdress (???) is.

Those instances in life I wish it was all just a mean April Fools joke. In all seriousness how do we go from something like Thundercats 2011 to an artstyle and character design that just bleeds obnoxiousness.

This art style is so obviously ugly but I've finally figured out what makes it so exceptionally ugly for me, even in comparison to other shows that use a similar style. These characters have adult physiques but were given weird childlike proportions and faces that just make them all look like ripped toddlers. This is the animated equivalent of the muscular babies in renaissance paintings. Lion-O and Panthro in particular have a lot of muscle detail but they also have huge heads, stubby limbs, tiny wristless hands, huge eyes, button noses, and chubby baby-fat cheeks.

It's not even an inherent limitation of the style, either. Jasper from Steven Universe doesn't have this Buff Toddler problem because her limbs and face are proportioned better. Pearl has really big eyes but her bigger nose and longer limbs balance that out and stop her from looking too childlike. These characters just look like someone didn't know whether to make them kids or adults so they went for both.

Also Cheetara's giant unibrow reminds me of people on Tumblr who'd draw "realistic" versions of characters with stretch marks, acne, and leg hair that looks like cactus prickles.

Even by Jojo standards this guy has a weird design. Like what actually is this, why is he wearing a cowleather onesie that goes all the way up to his neck?

dude also has a weird-ass Stand, it's literally a.... frog... pterodactyl... bracelet? that lets him control these invisible creatures that give people diseases by wicking away their body heat.

Reminds me of how poorly some of Clamps stuff translates to animation
It's like Attack of the Longstalk People here!

Hey now, let’s not forget CalArts also gave us Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCracken, m’kay?
I would think it was a gradual decline after they left CalArts and all the new blood came in and went on doing what they 'knew best'.
