It's been a while since I've really delved deep into the world of furry depravity, but I am no stranger to the weird shit these degenerates post for the entire internet to see. Gotta say though, while hyper fetish is pretty common with this crowd, heart fetish is a pretty new one for me as well. I'm actually a long-time lurker here, but I felt like I had to sign up just to talk about how bizarre this is. Yet I highly doubt he specifically created the fetish. He probably saw this kind of fetish art somewhere on FurAffinity or Inkbunny, because there are older examples of heart porn on FurAffinity if you search it. I still have to go through and see when exactly he started posting heart porn for sure, but I know there are other artists who specialize in this. In fact, the first time I saw heart porn was in the Furry Art Freak Show thread in reference to the art of ApexThump and Cardiobombastic.
You might have something about the vulnerability aspect, which reminds me of disturbing real life cases of ectopia cordis. It's a rare condition with a high mortality rate. Of course, that doesn't stop fetishists. Can't say if this is why Danny likes it though. Compare him to the two examples. ApexThump is a muscle fetishist. It seems like the appeal for him is a large, visible heart signifies a strong person. After all, the heart 'powers' the body. It's kind of the opposite of vulnerable. But then you look at Cardiobombastic. In their case, there's a lot of gore and body horror that accompanies their heart porn. It's definitely a gory, horrific thing to have your heart burst out of your body, so I think they're just into ero-guro with a fixation on the heart specifically (perhaps because it is such a vital organ). That or it has the same 'purgative' quality that scat or vomit has to some fetishists.
And while I was looking for that ApexThump artist, I inadvertently stumbled across a whole nest of heart fetishists on Tumblr who call themselves 'cardiophiles' through this heartguy87's following list. So there are definitely more people who fancy this heart fetish thing than we could ever hope. In many of the blog descriptions or names, medical kink and related terminology comes up right along with it, like 'UK Cardiophile & Play Doc' for example.
Danny might have a medical kink. Looking at his non-heart fetish porn, the characters hooked up to milking machines appear to also have ECG electrodes placed under their tits. I haven't had a chance to go down the rabbit hole of his novel length fanfiction yet, but he does have this character.
This character was created at the suggestion of a couple other FurAffinity artists who also have heart fetishes. Maybe they introduced it to Danny boy? He's at least won a few sketches from GlenSkunk. It might be worth noting he hasn't posted much in the way of heart porn in the last couple years (at least to my knowledge), so it could also be that he was trying to appease potential friends by indulging their fetishes.

Probably the latter. It's not like they don't realize there's some level of taboo involved within five minutes of exposure and thinking 'I don't think I can show this to my parents/the people at church'.

What is Tonka even up to these days besides his Wrestling Today streams? Gay ops? I haven't kept up with the aftermath for week or so now. I doubt Tonka's in a place to care. He might just be holed up in his own little hugbox until the shitstorm completely blows over.
