Jazz got status as the favorite when the mom decided to get him diagnosed at the gender therapist. On the show you can see how everything in the family revolves around Jazz and what Jeanette wants for Jazz, going as far as to get matching tattoos without even consulting dad (jazz was 16) . I have a feeling that if Jazz was a gay boy he would not be the favorite, and probably wouldn't get matching tattoos with his mom. I hope there is a tell all book, I want to know everything.

The oldest daughter seems like a smart and down-to-earth person, who hasn't appeared to be very interested in participating with the TV circus. I get an earthy/hippie vibe from her, so I don't imagine she indulged her mom's need for frilly dresses or whatever.

Then there was the twin boys. After that, mom wanted a little girl to dress up. She experienced "gender disappointment" with poor young Jaron. It was her last chance to have the little girl she always wanted.

I get the sense that ALL the siblings feel resentful of the attention Jazz gets. But with Ari I sense an underlying sadness; I might be projecting, but I think she's the black sheep of this overly polished family. I can only imagine what she was thinking when Jazz talked about "throwing my hubby's sperm up my sister's vag". Like, had they discussed this at all? Did no one consider if Ari would have her own partner and life plan?

EDIT: Sinner's Sandwich, I agree with you 100%. The father is absolutely as bad as Jeanette for allowing her to abuse and control Jazz as much as she has. It's clear he disagrees with what Jeanette's done to the kid, but he was too chickenshit to stand up to her. For the majority of trans identified kids, puberty eventually resolves their distress completely and they no longer want to transition. its the cure more often than not. it feels like irreversible damage for a lot of non trans people, too, puberty anxiety is a part of a lot of eating disorder patient's pathology, for example. Even if puberty didn't cause desistence, it is necessary for the development of a libido and fertility. Those are two things that no ones parents should be able to take away from them.

Its worth pointing out here: Ari and Jazz are prevented from forming any kind of alliance because their mom makes them resent each other with the disparate treatment. If Jazz isn't totally narcissistic, he probably resents Ari getting to be left the fuck alone sometimes, and Ari resents the attention Jazz gets. The other kids don't want to end up like Ari so they don't get involved with taking any kind of active side against their mom's insanity, either. Kids of narc parents don't usually get to have any good sibling relationships. Maybe the boys are okay with each other.

I feel like we're all tethered to the advertising culture that first was dumped full force on teenagers in the sixties, that you'll finally be happy if you buy into the latest new fad culture product, and dump your old shit in the trash.

Can't find my post here, but for those asking whether the problem is the mother, yes, it is: I mentioned a case in either Brazil or Argentina (I'm too lazy to google right now) where the country's media paraded around a transgender kid who had been born a boy but his dream, according to mom, was to be a girl. Little after they showed up in a popular tv show, the kid's brother and sister showed up in other media saying it was all a lie, that the mother had been saying contradictory stories, and the brother mentioned how the mother had tried to do the same with him, calling him "my little faggot" when he was a kid because he was a bit effeminate despite he wasn't gay. He soemhow implied the mother wanted him to make him a girl too but he resisted the mother and eventually left. The sister mentioned too that the kid told her he accepted this because it made the mother happy. Of course, no media retracted or investigated further: they were happy to portray themselves as progressive and tolerant.

Will Jazz' sister and possibly his brothers as well come forward in the media and talk about how mother and father Bloshinsky maltreated their youngest son, I wonder? They seem to be mildly supportive on social media, but it could be that they are just putting up a front.
