Crazy pagans and polytheists

Something in another thread reminded me that I've been meaning to write this for ages. Since there's a thread for crazy Christians, I ought to admit: my own people are not free from the sin of lolcowry. Let's have a thread for all of the pagans out there who took a wrong turn at insanity.

Let's start with an oldie but a goodie (and still active), the grand dame of crazed moonbat paganism herself, Z. Budapest. Z. founded the Dianic Tradition, which broke with other forms of Wicca by worshiping only female deities. Most forms of Wicca are fertility religions that focus on the relationship between a God and a Goddess --- but fuck that; boys are gross and nasty, even when they're divine boys, and we are strong brave radfems who don't need them.

That's not really the problem, though. The problem is that Z. is completely off her rocker. Let's start with her strange (especially for a feminist!?) habit of referring to women as vaginas:

mmesll.jpg

Z. has been criticized for her paranoia about trans women, who are apparently trying to STEAL her religion from her, and insidiously attack REAL WOMEN in some unspecified way:

But in spite of this, she may be Christine's sister in spirit after all, as she has also become increasingly paranoid about JERKS. Z wrote "We All Come from the Goddess," a song which has become popular at Wiccan and eclectic pagan events and has been adapted by many different groups to suit their needs. Z's feelings about this are, well ...

bf5e1c.jpg

Yes, you read that right. Change the words to her song, and you will be hexed. THE GODDESS IS NOT A MAN, CHANGE HER BACK NOW NOW NOW. (She later backtracked and claimed to be joking about the hex.)

English isn't Z.'s first language, which occasionally leads her to say things that, well, could be taken another way:

Maybe Tyce is a witch after all. (Other things I learned from this video: Z., like thousands of teenage girls, seriously believes that Wicca is the oldest religion in the world; apparently Christianity is not a religion for some reason Z. never actually explains.)

The pagan community, like a lot of religions (and organizations in general), has had its share of sexual abuse scandals. Z's thoughts?

I think we have everything a large group normally has. mentally ill males, made up rules about “having to have sex with them”, exploiting women especially since we are the orphans without a good Goddess Mythology,.

Well, okay. She phrased that badly. But sexual abuse is a huge issue, after all, sure to upset anyone, especially people concerned with women's issues. Surely Z. would never advocate women being placed in sexual situations they're uncomfortable with?

Oh. Wait. Actually, in The Holy Book of Women's Mysteries she advocated all-female orgies in which participants must have sex with at least one partner not of their choosing and apparently no protection is used:

traditionally it's one for the Goddess and one by choice, but each woman must relate to more than one woman during the rite

*sigh*

I really wanted to put some of the drama in the various Norse paganisms, particularly all the screeching about Loki, in this post, but I had a hard time finding links that summed it up nicely. If any of the Asatruar out there want to take a stab at it . . . ;)

In the meantime, though, have some links from tumblr about talking to Loki in your head and cool stuff like that:
Being in an abusive marriage with someone you can't see!
Someone talks about change? HOLY SHIT DEFINITELY A MESSAGE FROM LOKI AND NOT A COINCIDENCE OR ANYTHING.
When you are apparently hallucinating Loki bouncing up and down because of candy, you are on tumblr.

Back in the day at the LARP... the Couple That Needed To Be Interesting was talking at length about how they were pagans or wiccans or something. They then explained the ancient traditional prayer about how fear is the mindkiller and the little-death.

While I am friends with some pagans, learn some things from them, and like some ideas, I am very interested in this thread due paganism openness for some bizarre and laughable people to join. I would like to contribute but the only person I can think off is Varg Vikernes.

I was pretty chill with the one Wiccan I knew, and she was the only pagan I personally knew (actually, I know more Satanists than I do pagans; a whopping two). Honestly, the only examples of buffoonery I've ever seen were Mr. Chandler (he uses quite a few rituals, and his perception on religion is closer to paganism imo than any form of Christianity), and that PDK fella who wanted to commit genocide of the Irish for glorious Rome in the name of Pluto.

Go for it. And oh my, dat fail!Egypt.

Well, the ED article I linked above covers most of the good stuff ... To sum up, though, Michelle Belanger claims to be a psychic vampire and has a cult/circle/religion/take your pick called House Kheperu, which mixes pseudo-Egyptian mythology with a setup that sounds an awful lot like Vampire: The Masquerade. She claims that without taking psychic energy from others she would've needed a heart transplant, that her personal energy field is so high that it can mess up electronics, and that she has some form of ESP.

And for a professional writer, she's not very good at writing.

This woman is in her 30s, self-diagnosed autistic, self-proclaimed witch, partial deity, rogue taxidermist, and basically whacked out on entheogens at all times. She and her husband have lived with her in-laws (1 archive, 2 archive, 3 archive) for more than a decade. She collects roadkill, eats it rotten and gets sick from it (4 archive). She prepares food contaminated with urine, menstrual fluid, semen, grave dirt, ashes and pubic hair (5, archive) and serves it to other people without their knowledge or consent. She gave her unsuspecting mailman some "ritual bread" chock-full of shrooms (6 - if you only click one link make it this one archive).

You can buy jam and other food products from her, and people do. Just let that sink in a little.

If it was just the wackadoo sex magick (7 archive, 8 archive, 9 dead link, alas), that would be one thing. But her history of being shitty and ungrateful to her in-laws and non-consensually involving others in her totally unsanitary rituals is beyond the beyond.

Browse the #gangstagate tag on Ms. Dirt's tumblr to see her run afoul of the social justice coterie and actually come out looking like the sane one.

Remember, this is what she thinks is acceptable behavior.

There's a lot here. Enjoy!

This guy (not sure of their gender, their name is pretty masculine but they seem to refer to themselves as female a few times?) seems pretty fuckin' weird to me, but that's mostly because of this creepy-ass poem they wrote. Like..."let me sleep in your womb tonight?" What the hell does that even mean?

Although really, what bothers me most about the online pagan community is the fact that they collectively suck at web design. Seriously, most of the pagan sites I've seen are pretty much stuck in the Geocities days.

Seconding the OP, too--Z. Budapest rubs me the wrong way on so many levels. :(

My kingdom for a Horrifying rating. :cryblood:

I think I might know. If he hasn't already discovered unbirth (exactly like it sounds) porn then I am sure that would rock his world.

Her ass is not as nice as she thinks it is.

I've encountered quite a few Pagans, Wiccans, and similar types in my time. Can't think of any whom I'd consider to be lolcows; their eccentricity is usually quaint and harmless. (And most of the ones I've met think Z Budapest is a delusional ideologue -- the Andrea Dworkin of alternative-spirituality.)

But that graveyarddirt woman? Man....

I have an honest-to-goodness question about paganism: the two pagans I've known (one in high school and one on facebook) have seemingly irrational hatred of Christianity. Now, I'm no Christian myself, but, like...is hating Christianity a requirement for paganism?

It could have something to do with Christianity coming in and replacing the pagan religions, having the pagan deities demonized. That may be why pagans could have irrational hatred of Christianity. Then again, I'm very sure there are pagans who don't mind Christians and don't really have much of a hatred towards Christianity.

No, but many Pagans are former Christians with an Axe to grind.

I know, right? Perusing her #gangstagate tag is such a head-scratcher. Like what kind of person reads this woman's writing and is most troubled by her use of the words "nigga" and "retarded?"
