Vic Mignogna fired from Funimation & RoosterTeeth over accusations of sexual harassment

This was way before he became semi-famous as a VA, which makes one wonder why her mother was so hesitant to tell the police, let alone her fucking father. You'd also think that a mother would be a bit more outraged at the assault of her daughter. Most parents of victims go on the warpath, but for some reason not hers?
I can buy that, in an insular religious community, even the mother of a victim would be willing to overlook an unsuccessful stat rape attempt for the sake of keeping the peace in the community. That sort of stuff sadly happens all the time. In companies, too. Also gotta remember that this allegedly happened 30 years or so ago, which, as old as it makes me feel to say it, really was a different time.

Damn this is really Change the Channel 2.0, just a few serious allegations while they're being drowned out by attention whoring lunatics while the guy they are against is just fucked short term.

They're so incompetent, they made the thread's opinion pull a 180. Both sides are bad, but the kickvic side is far, far worse.

Is whoever this is for real?
Supposedly they're pressing charges, so only time will tell:

Really, animegate? Well, guess means I can take this whole thing on the same "serious" level as GamerGate or ComicGate.
Whether we like it or not, what we're seeing here is almost certainly the beginning of an Animegate. This has been brewing for a long time and I don't think there's any putting this genie back in the bottle. All the same elements of Gamergate and Comicsgate are in play, with elitist gatekeeping ideologuesl that hate their customers taking control of the industry.
Looking at Gamergate, what we can expect to happen is a return to the bad old days of anime and manga censorship and companies outright refusing to bring over titles that are considered politically incorrect. (One translator bragged on Twitter has already bragged that "we" [SJWs] control what comes over.)

Oh, and this D.C. Douglas guy you folks mentioned is a voyeur that recorded himself going into a women's restroom and listening in to them going #2. And he posted this publicly to Twitter.

I can't imagine animegate happening. I'm not an anime fan, so I probably wouldn't tell, but there has been far less of an sjw influence in anime than there was in gaming, and far far faaaaar less than comics. Gamergate happened because of an incestous combination of indie developers and news sites, and while it was rather small, where the closest an sjw got to triple a was Dina Abu Karam working with Keiji Inafune, there were still a lot of politics pushing here and there. Comicsgate happened because the agenda pushing could possibly end with the death of the medium, as Marvel, one of the big two, is tanking in sales hardcore.

Anime and manga are nowhere near that bad. They have been in full swing since the mid 2000's, and I don't think anything's going to stop that anytime soon. If anybody's got some juicy stories of sjws ruining some kind of dub I'm unaware of tho, (again, not a fan of the medium, so that paragraph I wrote was possibly me talking out my ass) I'd be hyped to hear them.

Yeah, I don't really like the term Animegate either because it has a stigma and terms like that will be used against the critical voices like a weapon, like Anita and Zoe Quinn did to make themselves famous as victims. You'd better believe Monica, Jamie, and Amanda Winn Lee would do the same.
But I've seen people using the term already.
I asked why they're pushing #AnimeGate this hard so soon and the answer I got was to stop the spread before it can affect Japan. When I told them they were being autisticly paranoid, they cited Sword Art Online (of all things) becoming more "PC". Related source:

FFS...stop adding the suffix gate to bullshit like this. It makes no goddamn sense especially if something else happens later. Because then what are you going to call that? Animegate 2.0? Why? Is the sequel related to the previous bout of spergery? If not, fuck off. Call this crap for what it was based on. Gamergate = The Zoey Quinn Affair (...seriously she literally had affairs with other men and no one thought to declare it some kind of an affair); This = Vic Mignogna Firing or perhaps you can call it the "Kavanaughing of Vic Mignogna", ...no idea what to make of "Comicsgate" especially since the biggest screw job I'm aware of (well unless it turns out one of the Anti-CG people swatted that one guy recently) was when Mark Waid went after D & C's publisher to stop Jaw Breakers from being sold. And yet, when that happened, no one thought to give that its own name. It's fucking stupid.

My own two Autismbux about this incident.

There's a few major differences between this one shitstorm, and the ones that preceded it. Most notably, people with a sense of pattern recognition realized that this shit sounds familiar, and not just beause of us seeing this same gatekeeping anti-consumer horse-shit stance taken before, during previous incidents. Funimation's been in the crosshairs of weebs for a while, because it's done shit like go completely off-script and insert their political bullshit into works where it wasn't present before, such as the time they inserted references to Gamergate into Prison School. So like the good @Travoltron said, this shit has been coming and it's always been a matter of when, not if it would happen.

But it's a related issue, not the above, that caught my eye.

You see, normally, when we have situations like these incidents, the battle lines get drawn pretty quickly, and while it's very common to see where the breakdowns in such a situation lie, usually there's some sort of self-preservation instinct in place that prevents the side that's more obviously in the wrong from completely shitting the bed in the opening days. Don't get me wrong, they always do eventually, but usually the onset time is delayed by a few weeks, and usually, this delay is done out of simple self-interest. Usually, during this time, the narrative is forged and the proverbial wagons are circled. Often, the smarter members of the groups responsible will go complete radio silent during this, if they even acknowledge it at all. Can't let your spaghetti out of your pockets just yet, after all. But there is always a specific point where the responsible party inevitably shits the bed, in a distinctive phase I refer to as the Meltdown Phase. At this point, one of the people responsible for this shit, confident in their position and usually high on self-importance, drops all pretense and shoots from the hip, because fuck these nerds who think being customers means they have any right to complain about the handling of the media they consume.

What's happened in the case of this shitstorm, however, is one I haven't seen before: The meltdown phase happening in the opening salvo, and literally because the community as a whole wasn't having any of it. Whether it's because of previous experiences or just because the weebs happen to have the most potential Autism to weaponize, they weren't about to let this shit ride, and the result has been one of the most surreal explosions I've seen in real time before:

* We had a ChangeTheChannel situation going on while several of the accusers involved previously covered for someone who actually did committ sexual harassment, provably and on camera, or were involved in some other sexual impropriety. That's on top of a third one who just got accused of sexual assault.

* We have a situation where one of the people involved in the KickVic campaign seems to, impossibly, have bigger entitlement issues than Brianna fucking Wu, and is shrieking about how she's going to report people to the DHS for criticism and mean fucking tweets.

* Speaking of Brianna Wu, we have Amanda Winn-Lee, an IRL acquaintance of Wu's and the voice of Crimson 09 from Revolution 60, coming out as part of the KickVic campaign and allegedly getting exposed as wishing rape on a critic.

* We have a major con going full on the offensive threatening to arrest their own patrons if they dare show up to support Vic or dare ask anything untoward towards any of his accusers at the event (which is basically asking some cynical weeaboo to do just that), and demanding press passes get removed for daring to voice support of Vic. When this con got flak for it, they proceeded to respond like a 14-old user of YTMND.

* There are now about a dozen and a half leaks that have emerged, in the last five days alone, showing not only that Funimation's other VAs were basically in cahoots to get Vic fired, but that they knew and coordinated this shit with groups like ANN.

* We've had Monica Rials basically show she could carry a thread on this site by her lonesome. She's also encouraged her followers to attack Vic, while Vic has told his own followers to leave Rials alone.

* Because there's never a bad time for old Autists to butt their heads in, we've had Autistic shitstains like Renfamous show up to declare Vic guilty of all charges, because anyone actually cares what she thinks.

GG went from initial scandals to full-blown meltdown phase in about two months. CG went from initial to meltdown in about a month. This has gone from zero to meltdown in a little over six days. What this genuinely means is that this one's going to brew up a lot hotter than previous incidents, and likely taking down a lot of people with it, but last much shorter as as a result, since those involved with the opposition this time clearly have no shortage of skeletons in their own closets.

It'll remain to be seen if they have the wisdom to shut the fuck up before they get hoisted by their own 'tism or sperg-fight their way into oblivion.
