A big rock will hit the fan instead of the shit. I saw this vlog by luck made by SenpaiShome.

This came to my attention recently, the starter of #kickvic has legitimately been telling her fans to FALSELY FLAG other YOUTUBERS VIDEOS. Typical SJW mentality, do you still want to say feminist (woman) hold no power in 2019 guys?

And there's a parody of Sean Schemmel's performance, if we could call that performance.

I don't follow the relevance.

I do think the Fairy Dance arc wasn't as bad as people say. When said bad guy got his shit pushed in at the end, it was pretty satisfying.

the relevance is that when the KickVic blew up,a cosplayer said a voice-actor friend of Vic Mignogna took advantage of her when she was drunk and raped her.She didn't give names, but people quickly guessed it was Todd after asking her in private and Todd knew it was about him and he quickly post his defense, saying they were BOTH drunk and she pestered him multiple times to pursue a relationship even though he didn't want to and he even posted the private messages they both exchanged to proof.

And that start to blow when the Broly movie came out, am I the only one who think there's more than meet the eyes?
Wasn't the timing more about ANN trying to speed up the news cycle and divert attention from one of their own (Hazukiri) getting #metoo'd shortly before all this?

There's nothing ulterior here.People took the movie's success and attention it was bringing(it's the third highest grossing anime movie of all time worldwide, losing only to the first two Pokemon movies that came out at the peak of the franchise's popularity. It made over 100 million, with a budget that probably cost about 10-15 million,so it was a HUGE profit.) to remind once again about Vic's stories that weren't really a secret to people who follow anime forums for years.Only this time, thanks to the #MeToo and social media era,it really blew up and he actually suffered the repercussions

Too much to be a simple coincidence to my taste now then you mention it.

At this rate, I wonder if we should do a thread about Hazukiri along with "animegate"?

Not bad...

Yeah, I'm gonna press X to doubt. There's likely lots that's ulterior here.

Fuck animegate, and all other gates. AFAIK, Hazukiri fucked off. ANN unpersoned him PDQ. Where's the tard cum?

I do think some of these VAs should be nominated for consideration as cows though. Especially Marchi.

If I recall, the KickVic stories blew up first on Twitter when the movie came out.Apparently this was the tweet that triggered it all: https://twitter.com/hanleia/status/1085478817764827136
Then ANN took the chance and timing and started asking people with stories to DM them so they could compile them in an article they later did.Mind you, they just interviewed Vic back in September(and by Jacob Chapman,of all people...)

EDIT:here's the interview(which was in May,not September,my bad: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2018-05-09/.131331
funnily enough,it was about Digimon, which Hope regards as sacred to him(along with the first Fullmetal Alchemist, and god have mercy if you tell to his face if you preffer Brotherhood...)

Its fuckin weeb wars get it right!

Yeah, I'm with Rekieta where if you insist on hashtaging this shit, that's certainly the better option.

As for me, the crap that @Jaimas pointed out with how Marchi has been fucking with dub scripts is causing me to seriously consider swearing off Funimation dubs. I'm watching fansubs of My Roommate is a Cat, and I think I'm gonna just keep going that route.

If I want to support the industry I go to cons or try to buy manga other than that I pirate.
Edit: Grammar.

FMA: Brotherhood was fucking incredible. Unlike Hope, whose taste in anime is questionable at best.

I'm not entirely sure I give a fuck about the US side of the industry.

I'm not at the point where I'd say I'd swear off Funimation subs, but I'm probably not gonna be a patron of their dubs anymore. They need to pull their head out of their ass.

Jamie Marchi is probably the most violently outspoken person about this.

HOLY SHIT.
This is really professional!
I'm so glad this psychopath is editing and censoring the scripts of dubbed anime for me! Because God only knows what tragedies this nutbag would bring if she were in any other occupation.

Tiddy jokes? Bad. Asking for the decapitated testicles of a co-worker publicly? Good.

At this point I'm starting to think that 4KIDS Entertainment, as much of a fuck-up as they were, was just mostly a goofy weirdo with money management problems whose heart was in the right place but was completely subservient to the FCC. Their way of dubbing and localizing aside, the only controversies they really had was their handling of One Piece (approved of by Toei who really should deserve the same ridicule), their Pokémon license expiring and PUSA wanting to be cheap bastards, and withholding money from Konami when they owned Yu-Gi-Oh (which was pretty shitty of them to do). That's not going into the then-CEO Alfred Kahn who was a lolcow in his own right that managed to run away with his money when 4KIDS died.

At least with 4KIDS, they knew their target audience was for kids, even though their way of doing it was rather questionable at best, but they should be happy knowing they died before social media took off. It at least helped to preserve their endearing lolcow status for their time period, meanwhile the revered Funimation is going off the deep-end and all anyone can do is just watch in awe as they make a complete ass out of themselves, all while the ghosts of Manga Entertainment and ADV (who is haunting Sentai) rub their hands in glee as the bad juju they jinxed on Funi finally takes effect.

As stupid as most of their edits were, they were mostly apolitical and were about pleasing soccer moms instead of socjus mobs.

It's completely different from the total derangement Funi is doing and it is shocking that they haven't run themselves into the ground in the last 2 years.

Honestly the only ones benefitting from this shitshow are Funimation's competitors like Aniplex, Sentai, Viz Media, and now CrunchyRoll as they are seen as better dubbing alternatives at this point.
I think it's just going to be a cycle of kicking down the worst performer until everything really does get stuck with one company. CR has their diverse all-woman writing team slosh, after all.

Someone who spoke up against Vic allegedly got swatted last night.

If it truly happened, then whoever did it is dumb as hell, but there's something fishy about this:

They said they stand with Vic on the call.

Some dude called 911 to send the SWAT in and then decided to throw in "Oh yeah, I stand with Vic" on the call? Sounds like Jussie Smollett saying those guys said "This is MAGA country" in the middle of Chicago.

I like that soyboy here conveniently left out his sources especially on where he heard the call. :story:

Personally I want some of these other places to take over although I know they recycle some of the same people from Funnimation so that's going to be an issue.

A lot of weebs started boycotting Funimation after the Prison School incident, but in all incidents to follow, they had more and more former customers fuck off. Funimation didn't even bother to respond, until the weebs started organizing into actual boycotts, at which point they put up that big purple message from earlier, which was neat because Funimation also neglected to add any context as to why there was outcry from the community in the first place.

The thing is, when that thing finally went nuclear, Funimation had already had like four previous strikes. Everyone knows about the shit they did in Prison School (random GG references, references to Clinton, and Dragon Maid (random feminist references, complete character dialogue re-writes that undermine the entire fucking show, etc), but it was Funimation's handling of Hajimete no Gal that finally caused the proverbial core breach and the boycott threats to emerge.

Good god, where to start with this one. If you're not familiar with this one, I'm not at all surprised, it's about as straightforward as harem animes get. It's a low-brow humor show with tits and I've never watched more than its trailer. The dub, meanwhile, basically slashes and burns intentionally attempting to take shot at Trump, VN fans, and basically anyone the clique at funimation takes issue with. There's an entire segment in one of the later episodes where they unironically have a dirty old man bitch about millenials and SJWs. Amusingly, this show's writing credit is completely blank, possibly in an effort to hide who was responsible.

But that's three for three where Jamie Marchi was the source of massive, sweeping, politically-motivated dialogue alterations (that she bragged about on Twitter later), and Funimation gave nary a fuck until boycotts got threatened.

But Dragonball is hardly at the peak of its own popularity, is it? From the outside it really feels like that movie came out of nowhere and made some serious bank on a dead franchise. Dragonball was huge when I was in college… hell, in high school, even. What's next, a massive Tenchi Muyo or Cardcaptor Sakura movie?

With regards to boycotting Funimation, from the outside, it kind of feels like they're so huge that it would be difficult to do while still enjoying the hobby. It's like boycotting EA. I get that they do some really shitty things, but since they publish such a wide range of stuff, you'll end up throwing out a whole lot of babies with the bathwater.
