I tried getting into the whole Comicsgate thing when it first started popping off, but as a non comic book reader it really wasn't all that interesting to me. This story changes all of that. After watching the "Edwin Boyette was Swatted" video, it's readily apparent there's a group of well spoken professionals ready to face this SWJ nonsense down in a calm and coordinated manner. It does sound odd, but for all we know, he was scared, felt like he needed to draft up a letter and thought it would be over, you honestly cant tell what was going through a mans mind when multiple people come out and accuse you, a public figure and roll model of sexual harassment and other shit, it sure as hell doesn't help him the way he worded it but i feel it was out of fear.

Most of what he's accused of is pretty petty shit.

Like 95% of the accusations basically boil down to: "He kissed me on the cheek this one time at a con and then, OVAR 9000* years later, I felt weird about it."

So obviously he's guilty of rape and needs to be rendered unemployable forever.

Not to mention the fact that for every story like that, there's many more where people post pictures of happy interactions with him in support. It's especially apparent on the GoFundMe.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if when it comes to gay stuff Vic "loves the sinner and hates the sin" and just found a smart excuse that doesn't make him outright say it. I tried to find anything to back up homophobia when the story first broke because knowing how hardcore Christian he is it sounded plausible at the time and came up empty.

He’s a Christian. He chose not to put his signature, thus his endorsement on some third party made cartoon gay porn that had nothing to do with him. It seems neither unreasonable nor particularly homophobic. It’s like trying to get the Star Trek cast to autograph your porn parody DVD. (Ok Patrick Stewart might, just for the lulz).

From what I heard Vic was just basically too into himself (bible study at cons, really?), and a bit of a diva at cons thanks to his fanbase going to his head (though it seems to be common amongst VAs), but since he was also a successful white christian man who wasn't properly tweeting the right "woke" stuff, I think people around him held a grudge and it grew eventually over years into outright hatred, and when the accusation dropped, it was finally time to make an example out of him.

If this guy was your typical woke ally he probably would've been able to get away with a few actual rapes if he wanted to. And they would've run interference for him.

Can one of his defenders explain why they think everyone is arbitrarily deciding to fuck with him all of a sudden? I can get "It's all kind of weird but you're making him out to look like a rapist" but it seems like some of these people straight up believe there's a conspiracy to get him.

Like the Bulma VA said he was a creep, you'd think at that point there'd be some distancing but it seems like that just pissed off his defenders even more.

These two touch on why it likely all began. Marzgurl. Remember her. Justin “Jewario” Carmichel’s Long time production collaborator and bestest friend ever. Who apparently only found out he was a bit of a fan creeper and actual rapist years later. She’s projecting what he did on others in some way seeking redemption or absolution for the monster she used to hang with and enable, albeit without realizing it. She’s gone from not seeing the real evil in front of her, to seeing it everywhere. In routine inoccuos things. Wow Vic gets all buggy, touchy feely in the meet and greet line. So does every character in Disney. It’s what you do in a celebrity meet and greet line. At least if you are not a pink haired scowling harpy.

I just want to correct something in the OP-- the story Inoue-Hart gave about her door being broken down in 2016 was not that she had been burglarized but that the police had been called and told there was a burglary in progress at her residence, meaning this is her second time to claim having been swatted.

Yeah about that picture of the door. It has a clear boot print on it. Cops don’t do that. Ever! Or rather any cop will only ever do that once, and once is all it takes to learn not to do it ever again. They generally learn this long before getting near a swat team. When faced with kicking a door, the cop will break a window. There are a number of reasons to not kick a door, but the three big ones are 1. Solid wood or reinforced security doors hurt like a motherfucker, and you are just as likely to dislocate a hip then go through it, and you really don’t know what type of door you have until you kick it. 2. If you do manage to succeed in kicking in the door, whoever is inside now has a clear unimpeded shot at your unarmored balls. They don’t wear bulletproof jockstraps. And 3. Every SWAT Team and every Firetruck in existence carries at least a dozen tools to go through that door faster and safer, without exposing your balls to a hail of bullets.

Its also not surprising that a known hardcore christian would turn to Jesus in a time of trial. As was stated earlier the dude has been really consistent about being a zealous adherent to the faith, so it would be more surprising if he left God out of the statement rather then putting it in. These Voice Actors are also not what we could call "elite" in any sense. Vic was certainly "at the top" if you could put it that way, but being one of the most prominent Anime voice actors in America means you are making enough to live a comfortable middle class life with the added stress of having to travel all the fucking time. This is not Tom Cruise here. Think more Wells Fargo bank branch manager. He's probably getting paid about the same and has to work harder too boot. This is not something he could have prepared for, and he certainly does not have an entourage or round the clock agency support to handle a sudden reputation crisis like Tom Cruise does.
