Jack! Don't die a Whiteknight!

"How pleasant and deceptive they are"? Most people will admit after seeing him, that he was a Prima Donna. Almost no one is contesting that. Unfortunately for them, not liking someone doesn't mean they are automatically guilty of any and all accusations levelled against them.

there's no law against being a weird self absorbed asshole

Nor did I imply it should be, I was just curious as to whether or not dude was actually doing anything to begin with. The consensus seems to be "yeah a little", but even the act of inquiring about it seems to aggravate people. Even then, the takeaway seems to be that he's done no favors for himself with his antics over the years. That even people siding with him have to say "Well yeah, but!" is basically just going back to what I said before; he likely did (at least some of) what he's being accused of, people are just angry over the behavior of the people blasting him over it.

Because if that's not the case, repeatedly suggesting it is is confusing as shit.

Most people tend to get tired of repeated insinuations when somethings already established.

"So he's a weirdo"
"Yes"
"Maybe he did more"
"Why falsify proof then?"
"But he's a weirdo"
"Yes"
"So maybe he did do something"
"but we have nothing"
"But he's a weirdo"
"we already went over this!"
"man chill out, why you guys getting so protective? You covering for him?"

It just makes you look like a concern troll trying to steer discussion

To be quite frank, after 3 years of #MeToo and the Brett Kavanaugh clusterfuck, I would argue that none of the claims about Vic Mignogna's general creepiness or inability to respect personable should at all be taken seriously without hard evidence to them. A bunch of nebulous rumors and vague anecdotes are meaningless without verification, no matter what amount they are.

Personally, I think it was a bunch of autistic weebs not sure how to handle being hugged and kissed on the cheek. This combined with Vic's arrogant extrovert tendencies basically led them to believe they were molested; confidence in men is bad now, yo. Don't get me wrong, Vic is an arrogant ass, but I think that just made the entire affair worse. He constantly pushed his fanclub - be it for money or to boost his ego - which came off as recruiting girls or some shit.

I don't visit cons often, I did it once as an experience - what an experience - and the stuff Vic is alleged to have done didn't seem so out of place. Girls everywhere were hugging their favorite actors, kissed on the cheek and some even being bridal carried. Which is why I put my lot in with autistic weebs not sure how to handle dealing with people and tumblr rotting their brain later in life - especially since the first accusation in the article comes from a FtM troon who at the time identified as a girl. I hardly think Vic is R. Kelly.

That's the thing. There are a lot of vague accusations, but no specifics. Nothing involving a lack of pants or other articles of clothing. The most damning evidence presented against him was a surprise kiss on the cheek picture... that the girl in it came out furious at the #kickvic crew because she had no problem with it, understood that it was done as an innocent goof for the camera, and really enjoyed it as a fan experience. And the "victim" was furious at her picture being falsely used to accuse someone of something sleezy. As far as lurid tales of sexual exploitation go, the movie of this would be hard pressed to get a PG rating, it's that whitebread. Yes he clearly enjoyed the public attention of teenage fangirls. But not much specific beyond that. "He's a hugger" does not seem to warrant a #metoo campaign. Anything beyond that is vague "everybody knows" but nobody knows anything specific.

Given Persona Q2 will be Japanese with English subs only, I can see why Atlus isn't bothering with trying to get the dub actors back after this idiocy.
I think that's only because the game's on 3ds, and considering that system is near death's door, having a dub would only add to the cost of the localization when the sales probably wouldn't be worth it. Of course with all this VA drama going on, and Vic being the voice of one of the characters, maybe it's for the best they skip out on a dub this time.

Makes sense, though this dub drama probably just gives them an even better reason to not even bother.

Either way, if I have to play Persona games minus any English VAs and only subs from now on, it'll be worth it if this shit is gonna keep happening.

They want us not to look at how they operate. With fabricated swattings and lies and unsubstantiated allegations you're supposed to believe without questioning them. Virtually everyone involved on the kickvic side has been caught outright lying and even committing crimes of their own, as fake bomb threats like Pensacon perpetrated are, themselves, crimes.

Well, "no bad tactics, only bad targets" as a certain film critic would say.

Not 100% sure what this is about but when Nick gets excited, I get excited

The guy is apparently Evan Stone, co-founder of the Stone & Vaughan law firm.

Guesses in that thread include: laughing at funi having representation and being this incompetent and a lawyer with multiple other roles (i.e. not a very good lawyer).

A big one is that no-one currently knows who is representing Vic and this looks like a introductory letter sent to Rackets to get into touch with Vic's team. As rackets said on one of his streams the other day, there is a way to make all of this go away get in touch with me and I'll pass on your details. Funimation may have just made that contact.

Here's something people have already dug up on him

According to these guys they are representing Funimation.

Their areas of practice are copyright and trademark, criminal defense, and landlord-tenet disputes.

Which is an interesting mix to be sure but okay. Not sure if they have always been on retainer or not. I would have assumed a company like Funimation would have had its own legal department. But it does indicate its the same guy in that Ars technica article.

So Funimation has hired a lawyer most known for accusing people of pirating German porn. :story:

Why? It's hardly huge. It's just a boil on the ass of the anime industry. Sony apparently bought nearly the whole thing (95%) for $143 million. That's big but not have an entire embedded legal department big. They'd have general counsel, probably some in-house people to handle IP rights stuff and negotiations, and then hire outside counsel for anything specialized.

While Vic's career bloody torpedoed in Texas, he's still safe in California (where Atlus USA is). If this is case from here on out, I'll keep an eye out for undubs for you.

If all this shit sticks, careers will be destroyed and hell, possibly Funimation could be destroyed, which should send some pretty big alarms in Toei HQ (Gen Fukunaga's uncle worked for Toei as a producer and because of that, Funimation is the only western distributor that Toei plays nice with. Toei's notoriously well known for being a pain in the ass to deal with.)
This is such a girthy well written post, I like it.

No, not Yukiko too. :(
She's well known for being batshit insane. Taking care of a cancer ridden child probably does wonders to your mental health.

Well, time to dig the premature grave for Funimation.
