Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Now we know the law firm and lawyers involved, could this possibly fuck him over in a sense of people calling up these lawyers, harassing them in ways of shit talking vic etc? not too clued up on law firms when it becomes public knowledge.

Oh lord no. This is not the local country lawyer. They have State Senators and the Politically Connected on their masthead. Anyone stupid enough to harass or troll said law firm are likely in for a world of hurt.

It's a top level Texas Law firm that includes a few Texas State Senators and such.

If I were looking down the barrel of an impending lawsuit and these guys were on the other side, I'd be shutting the fuck up online and consulting counsel of my own because these guys do not look like they fuck around.

Hey new on forums.

This topic has me greatly interested. Bringing lots of people out of the wood work.

The most curious that is happening now is in Rekieta's stream. Vito Gesualdi, who is a decently sized youtuber with a fairly sizeable audience, is quoting from a news article from the chat and sperging out. I have no clue why he's getting involved and doing this. (You know other than the way he looks.)

When the archive comes up I'll try and get those.

Also here's an archive of a tweet from him about it.

edit: He also had another tweet but the archive didn't catch it, the link was: https://twitter.com/VitoGesualdi/status/1100263081714876416. It was basically something like "Wow, 3500 dudes sure are excited about defending some creep." Or something to that effect referring to Rekieta's stream. I really need to learn to archive faster.

My first thought on looking at their web site is "if J R Ewing was a real person, these would be his lawyers"

Yeah, remember the "Lawyer" the Honey Badgers hired to deal with their Con problems. Well these guys look to be in every possible way the polar opposite of that disbarred clown. These look to be big game hunters. Just looking at them pretty well confirms that Funimation and Sony are the targets.

/sigh

Does nobody teach basic business do's and don't's anymore? Rule 1, do not publicly defame employees, ex employees, co-workers or anyone while you are in any way connected to the company. Yeah Nick probably will not name Rooster Teeth as a defendant, at least to my unskilled eye. But Rooster Teeth's actions go towards proving his damages against those he does sue. And Mr(?) McCormick may find himself interviewed as a witness (witless?)

remember kids, if you aren't directly involved in an employee or contract matter DON'T FUCKING GET INVOLVED!!! No good will ever come of it for you and your employer will never thank you for getting involved. If it involves your place of business and you are not a party just shut up and stay the fuck out of it. This idiot is doing Rooster Teeth no favors. Nick just revealed who Vic's lawyers are. And it's not some puddlefuck little local lawyer. It's a top level Texas Law firm that includes a few Texas State Senators and such.

And that's why everyone should be watching subs. Dubbing was of dubious quality from the beginning, and now that idiots are changing lines and complete characters (one of the characters in Zombie Land Saga became trans thanks to dubbing changes, there was a little shitshow about that for a while) it's even more not worth it. I used to pay Crunchyroll, I felt it was only fair when they were providing a bunch of series. Then they announced that they were using their money to pay an all-woman group in California to produce some mediocre-looking faux anime, tooted the progressive horn despite many Japanese anime authors being women, and called the people with a problem with that toxic misogynists, etc. Promptly canceled my payment and went back to piracy, yarr.

This is the same dude who makes spergy rant videos about SJWs in media on YouTube, so the fact he's chosen the #KickVic side is extremely interesting.

I swear, after all this, I'll never be looking at the Panty & Stocking dub the same way again (I guess it kinda makes sense since both characters would be considered incredibly horrible people in real life, but I digress)
Honestly this is why it is best to separate the art from the artist. Like I will still enjoy that dub, because if there is a positive about the dub is that I don't think about the voice actors when they act in it. Not to say they are great voice actors but that was probably their best roles as I couldn't think of the voice actor while watching.

In contrast, I find it hard to watch anything with Steve Blum in it because he barely differentiates his voice for most of his roles save for Spike and knowing how Steve is one of the biggest spergs who could rival the Funi guys/DC Douglas, that is saying something.

The "Harris" in "Beard and Harris" did his undergrad in Religion and got his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist. Not only does this firm have a Texas State Senator on the roster, but one of the senior partners will probably view the case as a calling from on high.

Jesus has blessed us in this timeline.
